Title: Gearbox Clearance
Post by: plumer46 on March 23, 2009, 12:29:37 PM
G'Day all,

I have installed 138 Grey with standard gearbox into my FE Ute, it appears that there is very little clearance between the floor hump and the gearbox approx. 3mm.

Where the Engine Mount attachment Bkts bolt to the Sub Frame, are there spaces that allow the Bkts to be lower and allow more clearance for the Gearbox  ???

Regards

John G

No spacers needed from factory - are you sure you have the right mounts? EK mounts I think will not sit right and maybe push the gearbox up too high

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the information, I suspect the Bkts that attach to the Gearbox are not FE, do you know where I may obtain the correct Bkts.

Hi Ken,

You were spot on, I do have EK Bkts in my FE Ute, I checked with a mate up the road in Wilberforce, Greg Holden and his FE Panelvan has the correct Bkts, there is approx. 1/2" difference in the outside mounting hole which will allow the gearbox to clear the floor hump.
