Title: Holden Sedan Facts Post by: ridgey_didge on February 28, 2009, 12:04:02 PM This is a GMH booklet published in June 1956. It looks like 1,500 were printed. It was for salesmen (well they were all men I suspect) to give them facts and info about GMH (some company history etc) and about the FE Holden.

At the back it lists NASCO accessories. I have never seen one, but Rabbitoh says he has one so I am looking forward to getting some photos to Alex eventually. Come on Rabbitoh ;) Basically it is an FE radio with foot controlled station selection. I still am not sure it is one ???. I was told by Nostalgic Wireless Co. (who partially restored it for me) that it is, and was given a copy of the technical specs for the Selectomatic, but my radio has no foot switch (or evidence there ever was one). The tech. notes (and Terry at Nostalgic) say that there are 5 pre set tuning stops operated by a solenoid (which can be foot switch operated, or by repeatedly pushing the tuning spindle knob). There is a 6th position on the turret which is designated 'manual tuning' in which the tuning knob is pulled out and turned normally to each station. R. Buick had one of these from at least 1951 to ? The standard radio was called a Sonomatic and was push button, this is the radio in my 1953 Riviera. As an option you could order a Selectronic version with foot button tuning. Here is an extract from the brochure.
