Keep away from the cheap one's with the Aluminium windings they have a lower duty cycle and also lose amperage as they heat up...If you get a machine with around 200amps you will be able to weld most thicknesses with good penetration ...Esab or most of the BOC [CIG] welders are good most of the Italian made machines are sub standard ......FC427.......

What FC427 said! Basically you find the best MIG you can afford then wait a few weeks to save another couple of hundred dollars to the next one up  ;D
The search can be a little tricky, the search "mig buy" gets you the answers
Plus there's info here -

Only one brand to buy, the original.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=mig+15+for+sale&revid=1279172907&ei=m5ueSf4NmZCxA-aUsdYJ&sa=X&oi=revisions_inline&resnum=0&ct=broad-revision&cd=1 ($2)   ;)

Watch out when you cross the Yalu.

Cheers
