Title: My parents circa 1960
Post by: Paul In Ireland on February 04, 2009, 08:59:57 PM
I think this first is about 1960 and and FC and they were probably only going out a short while, they were married in '62. The tie he is wearing is probably a company tie - Goldsborough Mort (spelling?) that he was a livestock auctioneer for at the time. The second one is about 1969 and I think an EH? Can someone tell me what model it actually is - thanks.

Nice photos Paul, I like the dress ;)

Yes EH Special, Fowlers Ivory over Winton Red. That number plate would have been a first year issue for black and yellow NSW plates, which makes it 1953. If those are the same plates as on the FC, by the time the EH photo was taken they had been remade, almost certainly after 1961 when the yellow changed from a very deep almost ochre yellow to a light yellow.

Cheers
John

John,

Yes, my father got the plates redone a few times as early on he would put up a lot of miles and the front plate would be a write off. What years would the EH have been made?

Kathi,

Thats my brother and sister - dunno where I was but I was probably making a nuisance of myself somewhere.

Paul, August 1963 to February 1965. Winton Red was a start of production colour and ran until at least mid 1964 and probably through to the end of production as there wasn't another red. By this time GMH was changing most of its colour range each year. It was not a particularly common colour. If you know the original number plate which would have been around DB.... through to DP.... I could have a stab at dating it.

Cheers
John

Don't know the original plate - he would have transferred the ABC-456 plate continually through his cars. I still have one of the old plates and did upload a pic of my FE here in Ireland with it on at some point.

That would be in "Irish FE FC Fleet Photoshoot"  ;)

Had the Irish Vintage Scene magazine guy come to do a story on the "fleet" today. Weather held off and here are a few shots. Whenever the article gets published I will get it up on here somehow.

Paul,

Love the story of the cars and number plates some people have. It is great to see that your parents have retained the number plate over the years.

Funny isn't it, I was never around when the camera came out too, if I could help it. ::)

G Day Paul.
Your parents seem like a lovely couple.
Thank you for sharing a moment of time in the life of your mum and dad.
The car looks good too. ;)
Regards. Leon
