Title: RADIATOR FOR V6 Post by: FCOV6 on September 28, 2008, 08:55:09 PM I had originally cut the rad support and side panels out for a HR size rad but thinking that larger will be better, what vehicle rad will fit easily height and width wise ? I have removed the lip from the subframe and welded it to provide room for a rad to sit lower if needed. I will have to try a commo V6 rad for size or maybe a ford one might suit.
thanks, Nick. Title: Re: RADIATOR FOR V6 Post by: smithy on September 28, 2008, 09:01:05 PM just a thought nick. have a look at where the inlet and outlets are for the motor and try and find a similar setup for the radiator. its no use fitting up an early radiator with hoses running in the wrong places.
maybe with the buicks you may be better off running a commy rad. worst case talk to aussie desert coolers for a custom job. good luck dean Title: Re: RADIATOR FOR V6 Post by: FCOV6 on September 28, 2008, 09:19:33 PM Hose outlets are similar to Commy V6 and i'm trying to find an off the shelf (or vehicle, solution) budget is really tight at the moment.
Title: Re: RADIATOR FOR V6 Post by: mcl1959 on September 28, 2008, 09:28:23 PM I would definitely go for the Commo radiator as a first try - not only are the hose outlets in the right spots for the engine, but the outlet sizes are right as well. The radiator is not very tall which is good but wider than a HR. Another good thing is that V8 Commo radiators are the same as 6 cylinder ones but with a thicker core which gives better cooling. The east - west fluid flow is also superior to the old north - south principle. They are really cheap as well.

Damn, i think i had a brain fart, outlets are opposite to commo V6. I had a look on ebay to get an idea of what they look like and if i can get a VN-VP core with ford EL-EH tanks it would be about right. |
