Title: boot lock Post by: 2door350 on August 24, 2008, 03:50:10 PM hello all, what boot lock do i use now that i've taken of the special trim lock surround? is it just the same as a door lock now?
Title: Re: boot lock Post by: Glenn 'Stinky' Stankevicius on August 24, 2008, 04:27:21 PM You use the boot lock, but you need to make a spacer at the back (inside the panel) to get it to sit tight in the lock hole.
Of all the jobs putting my FE back together, this one caused the most frustration and pulled muscles ::) Title: Re: boot lock Post by: 2door350 on August 24, 2008, 05:27:49 PM thanks, sound like fun....i'll check it out
Title: Re: boot lock Post by: customFC on August 24, 2008, 05:43:44 PM You could use an FB EK surround, to give you something to lift other than the key. If you want fluss fit, I guess you could move the ek surround to the inside, perhaps that would work, it would be the correct size for a spacer.

Title: Re: boot lock Post by: FC427 on August 25, 2008, 09:10:00 AM You could put a HQ boot lock in but the tang of the lock needs to be twisted 180 degree to line up with the mechanism in the boot lid very easy to do .......FC427.......
Title: Re: boot lock Post by: 2door350 on August 26, 2008, 05:15:24 PM Thanks, just ordered a new hq boot lock, and i've got a mate hunting me down an ek lock sorround so i can try both setups....
Title: Re: boot lock Post by: smithy on September 10, 2008, 03:14:22 PM it may be a little late but i used a boot lock from a EH the shaft is longer than the FC's so all i needed to do was cut the shaft down and a very small amount of filing to the surround to get the lock to fit snug.
