He said I would need to take out the tank, and cut the body out to the chassis rails for the tank to fit. That would be a 70 litre tank, which should be OK. I think it might fit without cutting too much out if the tank goes diagonally across the original tank opening, but not sure. About $2800, depending how much of the preparation I do for the installation.

you mite want to throw in a "donut tank" this would sit in place of the spare wheel,you WOULD NOT need to cut the floor out did this to a hd wagon before ;) and maybe? you could still leave the original tank in ,with modifided brakets on top of rails to hold the donut tank in...i would not cut my floor out,even rather put a smaller lpg clylinder inside of load area say on right side long ways ,make a carpeted cover,did this to a commodore wagon i once owned still had the spare in orginal spot,and it didnt take up as much spaceas you would think..... wot ever you do just plan it out properly ;),oh yeh dont let the lpg installer say you got to hack a hole in the quarter for the filler!!..it is possible to put it behind the number plate,cut a hole in the bumper and put a hq sedan flip down number plate mount on it ! crashboxes are king ;D Title: Re: LPG in a wagon Post by: GREGD on July 22, 2008, 02:11:04 PM HI
ANOTHER THING TO LOOKOUT FOR IS GROUND CLEARANCE WITH A DONUT TANK. I LOOKED AT IT IN MY STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION FE UTE, I ONLY HAD 140 MM GROUND CLEARENCE WITH THE TANK MOUNTED UP AGAINST THE TRAY FLOOR AND THE CAR LOWERED TO WHERE I WANTED IT THIS WAS A 70 LITRE TANK, I COULD GO SMALLER BUT WITH GAS ONLY YOU NEED A DECENT AMOUNT OF FUEL TO GET FROM PLACE TO PLACE WITHOUT HAVING TO STOP EVERY 150 K OR SO VERY ANNOYING ON A TRIP. I AM NOW LOOKING AT MULTIPLE SMALL DIAMETER TANKS WITH ABOUT 90 LITRE CAPACITY MOUNTED IN THE SAME SPOT AND IT DOES LOOK LIKE IT IS THE GO. FILLER BEHIND THE BUMPER IS A GOOD IDEA BUT I THINK THAT THE FILLING POINT MUST BE FURTHER FROM THE BACK OF THE CAR THAN THE BUMPER GOOD LUCK GREG |
