I have posted links to several pics similar to these, but don't believe I found this series of pics before.

Top job digging these up, as always, Alex.

When I saw the FJ ute in the first photo, I thought hmm must be very early '57, before FE ute was released. But then the outdoor photo clearly shows FE utes alongside the sedans. I wonder what that FJ is doing there? It must just be a factory run-around, I suppose. I don't imagine that the delegation of journos is getting their tour of the factory from the back of it ::)

Didn't they continue the FJ utes till they released the the FE utes?
Have to agree, Alex has come up with the goods again, I've only seen 1 or maybe pics 2 of that visit before.

It is interesting, there is also a jack underneath the rear of the FJ ute. I suppose it could be right on the changeover time between FJ & FE utes

Just wasted  ;) a couple of hours searching and browsing the national archive. You could get lost in there amongst all those photo's, You never know what you will find use your imagination when searching and you will find some great photo's.

Cheers Jim

G, Day  Alex.
I don't believe Ive seen these photos before.
Again from the shadows on the ground I would say they were taken around late 1956 or Early 1957.
Thanks for sharing them with us. ;)
Regards.
Leon.

It,s a Vauxhall ute not an FJ ute, look at the rear window/frame and the dash       Al

Hey Al
I think you might be onto something there.
Though the dash looks FJ, I think the rear of the door frame has too much corner to be a Holden.
Good spotting.

Alex

ah yes, you're right, the thing that isn't obvious is the shape along the rear quarter that is the trademark of the Vauxhall is not seen because of the lighting and/or the angle of the shot. But It's definitely a Vauxhall when you look at the photos in the History of Holden book.
