Title: Hr Front End ?
Post by: fe1957 on June 01, 2008, 07:29:02 PM
 :)
I did a search but couldn't find an exact answer.

I have just bought a hr drum front and hj discs\stubs etc. Have removed the HR outrigger

Can I use the outrigger of my std fe front end??? It would be a shame to remove and then find I cant use it.

thanks in advance
Grant

I believe you will need to use either an FB/EK or EJ outrigger to bolt onto FE/FC. Somebody else may be able to confirm this . I'm told that the standard FC/FE outrigger is not compatable with a HR front end conversion.
I intend to use an FB outrigger on the HR front end that I have. It will be fitted to an FE body.

Yeh grant Brad is correct you  will need a fb/ek or ej/eh but only the eh if you are running anything but a grey motor as the eh outrigger doesnt have the 2 engine mount holes in it. You could drill them yourself if thats all that you can get.

Brad, if you are needing a eh one for lets say - red motor-6cylinder, there's one on E-Bay at the moment-Hope this helps-1958GM Mark

Thanks for setting me straight on this one.
Out of interest does anyone one know why the fe fc does not fit , is it the angle of the crossmember. The length seems about the same?

cheers

The depth of the FE FC crossmember is deeper than FB to HR

Thanks for he heads up Mark . Fortunately I have a complete EK front end in the back yard .
I have been hanging onto it for about 20 years and now have finally found a use for it.
Well some of it anyway. ;D.
