Title: Re: Lh disc brakes Post by: FC427 on May 28, 2008, 06:06:05 PM Rather than going through this as it was covered recently in another post, there is a problem with the incline angle of Torana stub's, have a search and you should find this post and it will give all the information that you need .....FC427.....

Title: Re: Lh disc brakes Post by: mcl1959 on May 28, 2008, 08:10:17 PM Just to clarify - you can run LH discs and calipers on HR stub axles - This is what I am running on my FE and apart from the slight clearance problems with the caliper touching the top control arm on full lock, it all works well and the geometry is OK.
What you should not do is run LH stub axles. Hope this makes your day a little better :D Ken Title: Re: Lh disc brakes Post by: I958GM on May 28, 2008, 08:33:23 PM Thanks KEN- You've made my day, can l run Lj drums at the rear ? Thanks again-1958GM Mark
Title: Re: Lh disc brakes Post by: I958GM on May 29, 2008, 06:52:07 AM Thanks FC427 but after hearing from Ken l'm going to use the lh discs- Thanks for your help-1958GM
Title: Re: Lh disc brakes Post by: mcl1959 on May 29, 2008, 07:46:34 PM Yes you can run LJ drums as long as they are matched to the linings and backing plates. I assume you want to run a LJ rear end which will be fine. The only rule is that the LJ rear must have wheel cylinders which were used on a disc brake front end, not a drum front.
Ken Title: Re: Lh disc brakes Post by: I958GM on May 29, 2008, 09:09:41 PM Thanks Ken, l bought the Lj rear end off you if you remember a little while ago and have been playing around trying to work out how to go about it. Thanks again-1958GM Mark
Title: Re: Lh disc brakes Post by: cruiser056 on June 07, 2008, 09:39:03 AM Gday all,
I could be wrong! But I am sure that you cannot have torana brakes on a HR front end in Qld. Can't exactly remember why, but a few people up here have been down this road before. Might be an idea to check with an engineer before doing the work? Michael Title: Re: Lh disc brakes Post by: I958GM on June 09, 2008, 06:10:49 PM Thanks Michael for the tip- Ken, have you heard anything along this line or maybe its a Qld thing - Thanks Mark 1958GM
Title: Re: Lh disc brakes Post by: mcl1959 on June 09, 2008, 07:28:15 PM Nope never heard that before, Verify with your engineer though just to make sure.
Ken Title: Re: Lh disc brakes Post by: pedro on June 11, 2008, 06:50:42 AM I ran LC/LJ torana discs on a HR drum brake front end in my wifes EK here in Qld, passed machinary inspection no worries, only trouble i had was with squealing, machined discs, new pads, anti squeal pads and it would still do it occasionally, had similar trouble with HR front ends, this time i'm going to use commodore discs. 8)
