Title: Speedo cable
Post by: Gertie on May 22, 2008, 09:21:22 PM
I recently fitted a new inner cable to my good condition & well cleaned & lubed outer cable.

The speedo worked for a while then ceased to indicate.  I tried a variety of ideas but the one that worked was to insert a short piece of a nail, similar in size to the inner, into the gearbox drive gear, cable entry.

This had the effect of pushing the cable a little further into the speedo drive receptor. Speedo has worked fine ever since.
I assume that the speedo receptor had been worn a bit at the entry popint.

Hi Gertie

I found the same problem with times speedo cable, so I found an original under the house, even though Tim's wasn't broken it must have been an aftermarket on and are shorter i the square bit. Whit old cable in no problems.

But your way of fixing the problem is great.
