Title: Blue motor distributors Post by: colt on April 10, 2008, 05:47:12 PM Is anyone running a blue dizzy on a hi-po red motor? Can they handle sustained high revs (5-7000 rpm)? Can the module handle high ambient heat? Is the coil up to the job? Any input would be appreciated. The question came up today, theyr'e letting electronic dizzies on Appendix J cars. Thanks.
Colin The drive gear would of course be changed to a metal one. Title: Re: Blue motor distributors Post by: Dave_EH on April 10, 2008, 11:01:05 PM Colin,
I haven't had experience running a blue motor dizzy in your sort of application, but I'm fairly sure the epoxy filled coil would be better than the oil filled on for heat etc. Bosch part no. HEC716. I have heard they make a little more spark but I am not sure about this. I think the plastic drive gears are ok, but have a life span of 4 or 5 years rather than the ones around now that are 20 odd years old. I use a metal drive gear though.
