Hi Rod67

Either way you gotta cut up da car - woohooo - where's the plasma cutter or, for a more dramatic effect, the angle grinder!  ;D

I had a V6 FC many many moons ago and it was heaps of fun - but I must admit you can never go past an 8.  ;)

It really all depends on how much of the cutting bug you got in you and how much strength you wanna put back in.

There is plenty of information on this site for you to look through to give you an indication of some of issues and solutions for both options. Do your research so you feel 100% confident in your decision. Good luck!

I think that the same mods are required for both engines, so the same amount of work for either.

I have a V6 in my van and it runs great... The next one I am doing is a V8.

It's all personal choice and what you want from the car you build. Most of the time people will favour what they have done... It's only natural. Do a pro's and con's list. As well as a budget. Didn't get any change out of 30K when I did mine.

Hope it helps a little

Cheers
Jason.

Rod,

it's really only a decision that you can make.

look at Steve Johnson's wagon (grand champ and entrants choice modified).

it's "only a red motor" not a V6 or V8 but it's an absolute knock out.

whatever you do, just do it well.

Cheers

Ed

Sounds like a Holden motor.

VN-VS heads are the same, then VT had a dimple cast into the combustion chamber which raises compression slightly.  Higher performance after market heads exist too.

We could go on for a long time about the merits of a Holden Vs Chev or vice versa.
If you can get your hands on a late model "roller" block from Holden it would be nice.
on the flipside Chev crate motors are cheap.

I am planning to put a 253 / trimatic into my brothers EH.  While it's no ground pounding monster it will make a cool cruise car for him and his family.  why a 253??  I've got one kicking about and I'm confident about performing the conversion process another time.

There are pics of Steves wagon in nearly any Nationals Pics thread you will open.

It's unmistakable, you wont miss it, but in case you do, it's the wagon with a mountain of metal protruding from the bonnet.  Failing to see that, it is bright orange and white.

In any case a well executed conversion of any kind will always draw the right kind of attention.

Cheers

Ed
