will the gearbox from a EH, HD, HR fit behind a grey?      Mike.

Yes they bolt up but you then need a rear gear box mount there has recently been a thread about this subject ......FC427.......

Use the EJ box.
It has the grey mounts on the bellhousing.

Or you can use the gears out of a EJ EH HD HR and some HKs with 3 speed boxes and no syncro in 1st in the grey motor gearbox housing ;)

Forgive me for asking, but is there different strengths in the gears ie stronger, or is it just different ratios?

thanks for that fellows.    saw a reconditioned EH or HR gearbox for sale on ebay and thought it may have been more economical than having mine rebuilt.   Mike.
