Title: On the road again Post by: spanner on March 21, 2008, 10:15:05 PM The last time my van was on the road was in 1979. It looked a little different then.
After four years of work it it's almost ready to go again. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v382/spannerc Graham Title: Re: On the road again Post by: mikey on March 21, 2008, 11:34:28 PM I love this shot,
"Oh Mum can I keep it? It just followed me home" or "I'm gonna take this thing for a spin around the block if it kills me" Might want to get the rear springs reset, it's sitting a bit low in the bum :D (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v382/spannerc/Movingbody2.jpg) But I love this one much more, thanks for sharing. I can understand why you changed the rear wheels in the first shot, you'd never have got it registered, too far out from the guards ;D Cheers John Title: Re: On the road again Post by: smithy on March 22, 2008, 07:40:21 AM nice job there graham looks fantastic, looks like the old tin worm gave you a bit of work to do.

Title: Re: On the road again Post by: Paul In Ireland on March 23, 2008, 10:14:27 PM I can sum up my reaction in just one word:
Jealous! Fantastic colour and I'd say years and years of hassle free motoring to come. Title: Re: On the road again Post by: fc_clint_nz on March 24, 2008, 06:49:46 AM Nice 1 it's good to see another windowless van on the road, looks smick. Cheers (van owner)

Dean. Title: Re: On the road again Post by: EffCee on March 25, 2008, 03:05:25 PM WOW :o :o :o
What a stunning effort. The van looks to be first class. It appears that there was considerable rust to be cut out, and a first class job is the finished result, good to see that you filled in the windows. Stand up, and enjoy all the adulation that you will receive, you deserve it. Title: Re: On the road again Post by: spanner on March 28, 2008, 05:11:48 PM Thanks guys.
Doing up a car with as much rust in it as this one had can be very trying. The finish line can seem a long way off at times. I am lucky because the brother inlaw is a Panel beater and he made some things that I thought were impossible look easy. Like making one guard out of three and the great job he did filling in the windows. Thank you to the people who helped out with parts over the years and thanks to this site. I may not post a lot on the site, but most of the knowledge came from here. The car is not quite finished yet, but I wanted to put it in our local holden clubs car show a couple of weeks ago so it went in on a trailer. This looks like a happy ending but the person who let me spend all my spare time and money on this van and was to share the good times of club runs and show and shines ect, did not get to see the car finished. My Wife was diagnosed with Lymphoma in June and passed away in December at the age of 42. She would have loved the van. All I can say guys is make the most of every day. You never know what is around the corner. Cheers Graham |
