My brother needs the info for a customer car, and wants to get it right. The later models (EH, HR, Torana etc) use a greyish black in the engine bay. There were several specialist 'black' colours listed in the technical schedules, but by 1966 they had been discontinued in the BALM/Dulux paint catalogue. Colour No Detail 1966 BALM listing 1690 Black (Underside of Hood and/or FFenders & Wheelarch - Underside over Phosphate) NO 366-Line Primer Dipping S.115 9187 Black (FFenders & Wheelarch - Underside) NO 299-Line Chassis Lacquer S.147 9394 Black (Enamel Complete Frame Assembly) NO 399-Line General Purpose Enamel S.159 This info is of no value unless you have access to PPG's mixing formulas, but may help in tracking it down. If you do find the current equivalent I would like to add the detail to add to my list, but currently I have not had time to chase it down.
