ls there a way of posting some of my artwork directly to this website.l know it can be done through a photo website, but the less sites l can go through the less chance of them being ripped off & copied l would think.  Daz. ???

This site is configured to deny band-width theft, so that other sites which attempt to use images hosted here will get this image instead of what they were (presumably ::)) wanting...

(There are a couple of exceptions, google images, yahoo images and fbekholden.com IIRC).

However, that only stops people linking to pics here to chew our bandwidth.  It's almost impossible to completely stop people lifting images if they save them from this site and then upload them again elsewhere. Some sites render images using Flash which makes it a bit harder to lift copies of the images, but it's still not impossible if you know what you're doing.

I know it's probably not the answer you were looking for, but is that any help?

You can make your photobucket account private to stop casual browsing, but unfortunately if you put it on the 'net it's generally (un)fair game.

Thanks guys, although Rets answer left me a little light-headed & dizzy(not really up with all this computa stuff!)its pretty well as l expected.My drawings are far from the greatest masterpieces but many years ago one of my drawings ended up as business cards & another one ended up on a few car show entry forms,all without my knowledge,Ok or wallet getting any benefit! which leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth.
Although l sketched one of my mates Firebirds for him which with my permission ended up being inked on his arm forever so l guess thats a plus.  Thanks again for your help, Daz.

Artwork on the net without copyright seems a free for all hey , Ive done a few photoshop images that have been taken also .

I just wont share any ideas as easily anymore which I guess is where your at , but god help us if we all become this way .

you can always pay a little money and set up a an account to store your photos rather than using a free hosting one like photo bucket.

The beauty of this is that you can disable clickable links and have it set up so anyone that looks at your folder they cant copy and of its content as its protected  ;D

When you refer to "artwork" are we talking painting, drawing/scetches, airbrush etc???

The only way I have seen artwork "protected" on the 'net is on some tatto sites, where the design has a watermark and a scrolling pattern that lets you see the design but makes screen dump unusable.

A watermark is your best bet, at least the image is unusable.

Thanks guys for your help & ideas. l was thinking about a watermark or something similar & home-made.l remember years ago l saw a few sketches on the net. the artist had copied them & then drawn the big "copyright" symbol through the drawing, a bit savage maybe- but it probably worked! Daz.
