Title: Front door hassles Post by: Geoffs FE Ute on October 17, 2002, 09:30:00 AM The gap at the top of the door opening (the gap between the felt seals where the glass comes up)is 20mm on the drivers door,which is fine,but on the passenger door it is only 14mm.I am finding it difficult to make the weatherseals and glass fit.anyone had this problem before.

One rear door is even too tight for this, so hasn't got either strip fitted!
I was planning to look at later model weather striping, the rubber type that has a flap raised up against the glass, to see if it is any thinner than the felt originals? (This might be o.k. for a modified car.) Anyone got any other suggestions? Title: Re: Front door hassles Post by: mcl1959 on October 18, 2002, 10:46:13 AM I think this is quite common. Mine has the same problem. Does the glass come up through the centre of the opening?
If not you may have to modify the bailey channel supports on one or both sides to achieve this. I modified both the rears on the front door and the front one on the RHS door. Also try spreading the window gap to make it wider, this may involve cutting the strip below the quarter vent window & rewelding. This may be a problem if you have painted the door already. Silicone spray is also good to help get the glass through. I thought I would never get the weather strips in the passenger side front door of my car, let alone the glass, but now the glass is in & sliding OK Ken |
