Could anyone advise the correct colour and type of paint for use on the underside of an FE sun visor please? Cheers.....Ken Title: Re: Sun Visor Colour - Underside Post by: Johns on August 23, 2007, 12:09:49 PM Try this thread Ken.

I was pretty certain of the green being the correct colour but all the ones I've ever seen have had a flat finish not unlike a school
chalkboard. I picked up a good visor at the Cessnock swap-meet recently but underneath it is finished in gloss which doesn't look right. As the top has to be resprayed I may as well get the underside done while I'm at it. I'm just wondering if anyone could suggest an actual paint that would have that non-reflective finish and possibly a colour name. If all else fails I will try a few panel shops. Where in NSW are you? I've had that paint matched & mixed for me by Kenny's Auto Paint (whatever) at Carramar (The Horsley Drive). I can get a sample to them to do some more for you , if you want. The shade of green is similar to the old Airfix M-18 if that helps. I get down to Sydney about every 3 weeks so getting to Carramar is no problem. If you could get a sample to them that would be great. Much appreciated!! Can you let me know when you've had a chance to do it and I'll give them a call?

I'll drop it in tomorrow, then I'll put their 'phone number up so that you can call them a couple of days before you're coming down. I left a can of the colour with them this morning. I told them that a couple of blokes from the club would call them to get the paint made up, then they'd come in to collect it. Details. Kenneys Automotive Paints. 32 - 34 The Horsley Drive. Carramar. NSW. 2163. (02) 9727-2687 or (02) 9726-0296. kenneyspaints at optusnet dot com dot hey you. They want $25.00 per aerosol can, I reckon that you want two cans as a minimum to allow for sanding out etc. I'll leave my sample can with them for about two weeks (I'll take it back in the first weekend of November this year). Over to you people. Cheers Brett Title: Re: Sun Visor Colour - Underside Post by: Ken's 57 on October 19, 2007, 05:52:49 AM Thanks for the assistance Brett. I'll pick a couple of cans up early next week.

Here a couple of pictures showing the underside colour and the masking between top & bottom. (http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a131/d5461/20-10-07_1219.jpg) Overall view of back edge. (http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a131/d5461/20-10-07_1227.jpg) I masked this one off the same way that it had been done when it was first painted circa 1958. The underside colour was matched to the original paint. Cheers Brett |
