hi, having changed to hr frontend and maintainig fc rear drums do i have to change the brake lines (different diameter) for all of the car or just the lines to the front discs. also by keeping fc drums will i have to change the brake cyliners in the drums ???

Paddy, no you dont have to change the whole line setup - but here's a tip.
EK brake lines will bolt straight into FC and are the smaller diameter to suit the HR front end.
The FC rear wheels cylinders are too big for HR front discs. The problem is there is no correct wheel cylinder to bolt into a FC backing plate and HR backing plates wont bolt up to the FC diff housing. Really the easiest thing to do is to put a HR rear end into the car with the right diameter wheel cylinders.
Just in case you think it is worth the risk of running stock FC rear wheel cylinders, the effect under a sudden brake application is to lock the rear brakes causing the car to lose control very easily.

hi , just to clarify by hr rear end you mean whole shebang(diff housing ,axles, everything...)unbolt from hr springs bolt to fc... etc which then of course would allow hr hand brake cable to fit as i have hr crossmember for gearbox.

Yep whole thing, springs are the same distance apart but slightly wider on HR, so you need to use the FC rubber insulators.
Handbrake cable length may be too long for FC, but it is easier to shorten than it is to lengthen

hi, would ej brake cyliners be the correct diameter and would they bolt up to the hr rear end. have been told that ej rear end is a better fit than hr any opinions on this

EJ rear cylinders are used with drum front end - same as FC. You need to use rear wheel cylinders from a car with disc front end.

Hi Their is another way you could fit a brake proportioning valve . you would have to cut the line to the rear and do a couple of  flares you might be able to use one from a HQ Holden they have 3/16 brake line but you can buy brass fittings to go to 1/4 for the FC brake line. And you can always buy an after market Russel brand that is adjustable Proportioning valve that is adjustable up to 60% pressure reduction ,but am not sure if they are street legal And the guy at the brake place must sell something, worth asking him what he has.

Hi Paddy can only tell you what i did with my ute if it helps. I used the ej diff because it just bolted in and i'm pretty sure ej backing plates but then bolted the hr disc brake rear cylinders to them[straight forward bolt up] also used the hq proportioning valve and all works great. hope it helps
