Centres are HK, front rims reversed to give appropriate offset, standard 5 inch width; back rims 7 inch, 14 inch chrome trim rings (rounded - no flats), hubcaps are el-cheapo reproduction Baby Moons!  I got em from Autobarn - had to order them in; cost all of $65 a set......
You may have seen this car before - it came from Brisbane.  (although its had a "personality change" since then)

Hi Jack,do you know what the name of the blue is.Other than my FC's I have a VH commodore street/strip car which is nearly identical colour (Pacific Blue) and I have often toyed with the idea of painting my V6 FC that colour but opposite combo to yours. :) Cheers, Jamie.

Jamie, its GMH colour Torquay Blue (B 095 I think.. can check if you want). Probably off a late 80's - early 90's calais - not sure.

You've got it now jack, worked perfectly, did you get any pics. of wintersun at all, or were you too busy drinking and perving( on the cars of course) ;). Sounds good to me, my camera skills degenerate as the evening wears on, besides how can i hold a camera when I'll have a can of bundy in one hand a hot dog in the other :D.

Definately agree about the wheels, the car looks great in the collage, sounds like a pre orange get together/warm up at wintersun next year, at least if Mez and i move back to the Gold coast you'll have somewhere to stay, long way for Paul to come from Ireland though, hey Paul maybe you might even get your car back off your Dad by then ;) ;D ;D

aw, gee, I'm all embarrassed now - all this praise just for getting a few pics up...  (actually, theres 6 pics because when I accidentally managed to get the img thingy up for one, I had to keep on doing it to cement the process into my old n abused brain; sorry, 6 was a bit of overkill)

Not at all Jack, as i like to have different looks at different times!!  I have a full set of baby moons, Kustom moons, torana caps with bullets and then run straight steelies, thats the best part about it all having different ways to look at the car.  My beast is now gathering dust in my nol mans garage due to the EJ ute build but soon the trimatic is gone to be replaced by a 4 speed and different gear shifter.  That is the fun of it all!!!!!!  I think the bullets look great on yr wheels.  I do want a set of tripples for the FC but it will happen when its meant to happen.  I will say though I love white walls no matter what look you are after 8)

So....... it would seem we have someone within our midst who is a little shy about a recent event he attended with his car.   He and some of his recycled teenager friends recently went to the Ararat Jailhouse Rock Run and it would seem that his car was well received - check out the title on the trophy - I think he should change his forum name to Jack_GC (Grand Champion)!  By the way that's Jack_GC and Rita on the left!  ;)

But I do have one question Jack and I know Stinky will want to know too - how the hell did it win with a grey interior?  ;)

Geez, I dunno?  :-\ I distort the truth a little - and everyone believes it! But when I come clean (well, almost), you all reckon i'm bullpooing....

Pedro, I DID NOT want that pic taken (I thought I was safe when every camera our mob had refused to work); them girls did tealeaf it - from the boot of the FC when I wasn't looking. But to answer your question - yes, the FC did win it (and another one, too!)

Kathi (and Stinky; who'll definitely be shaking his head in disbelief) - afterwards, I asked the judges if they were color-blind; they all denied it - the lying bastards. Also, they clearly have severe numeracy problems... The FJ with the Norman should have scored far higher than mine IMHO.
However, I must admit I enjoyed flogging all the 55/56/57 Chevs; also all the 'street machines'.

And Alex, you're not far out on the weight of the bloody thing. A certain person (drives a black FE sedan, apparently with a fox tail on the aerial  ::)) inferred that, me being a "SCW" ( the SC stands for 'show car' dunno about the W  ::)), I would have trailered the FC to Ararat. Not the case at all, and I'm about to send photographic proof of this to said person.
Ever driven a 1 tonner with 1 and a half tonnes of firewood on the back? It'll wander all over the joint like a hippy's lips - this is what I had to contend with on the drive home with that thing in the boot!  :o
It was made by a monumental mason, and the Leader of the Opposition just loves it - she reckons it'll save her 2 grand when I turn the toes up...

All said very much in jest and you guys know it.  :D I know that Jack drives his car a lot - and he drives it hard.  :o  I've been almost thrown into the boot through the back seat when he's changed gears.  :o  ;D

I admire and respect Jack, and all others, that drive their cars and maintain them in a condition that keeps them in contention for awards.  It's a hard thing to maintain a good balance of enjoyment, personal satisfaction and reward from your car by both showing and driving it.  It takes a lot of work but it can definitely be done! Kudos to all that do it! :)

Sorry jack, bloody mrs is readyfor a baby drop any day!!  I must admit I have probably only driven the FC maybe 5 times in the last 12 months.  I should be definately taking it to moorabin though as baby will be here by then!!  I love the steering wheel setup you have.  Anyhow beer and talk next time we catch up for sure!!!!!!!!!  Also I will be down port Fairy soon as mate works down there in bakery and he has a few hotrods so if i come down i will message you, cheers

hey jack nice wheels where did u get the idea for hk centres? ???

old 59, the HK centres looked OK in the past, but certainly not so good now...
To knock up 4 new wheels (without the slots!) wont be easy or cheap - the offsets are all one-offs to suit the suspension, diff, etc.; couldn't handle the expense after forking out for new trim rings n tyres!

Last post March 2009?  ::) Been quite a few changes for the old girl since then, and seeing as it's Winter, closed season; no fishing-no work; freezing outside, warm by the computer, here's an update...

Last September, 'The Leader of the Opposition' and me went for a little drive. Swag, tent, food, water and beer dont fit well in the FC; also I'm a little reluctant to flog it over 100's of k's of dirt roads, so it stayed home locked up in the shed and we took the trusty old Statesman (with a 350 SBC on straight gas, it's cheaper to run than the FC too!)

Had a great time until up around northern NSW somewhere, we got a nasty phonecall from no.2 son - some lowlife c@#t had broken into me shed and stole all the beer from the fridge.... and while he was there, gouged every panel of the FC (bar the roof) back to, and into, the metal  :'( :'( >:( >:(
This ruined our day, and I got a little upset; said things like 'oh dear oh my' etc... Weeks later, we got home, but it took a further 2 days before I could go down to the shed and look. It wasn't a pretty sight, and I must admit I got a bit angry.
Was too disgusted to take pics of the damage, but luckily it was insured so months later I took the poor violated old girl away for some new clothes

while this was happening, I did some work on the cooling system and some other bits seeing as access was real good...

I stripped the whole interior out before the car was painted (didn't want overspray on my lovely grey interior)
Was thinking of some way to restore the old girls dignity after she was so violently raped; remembered all the shite consistently put on the grey interior by certain people  ::) what about a lovely new interior??  ;D
And who better to enlist assistance from in the selection of colour, design, material etc than the two biggest critics of the grey interior??
What a brilliant way to get even with the bastards!  ;D
I drove both of them crazy with questions, ideas, severe challenges, etc for months. Kept changing my mind on the design and generally made a real 'sheilas front bum' of myself; and it was GREAT FUN!!!  ;D
Strangely enough, they both put up with me!  ???  (although I reckon the trimmer was awful bloody glad he only had to make the seat covers, etc, and I was to fit it all, AND that I was 700 km away...)

First outing with the new paint (2 pack, blue is a modified version of GMH 'Torquay Blue' with a few hard clears, white is Honda 'Premium Pearl White')

What a story!  I cannot understand people who vandalise - sure, steal the beer, but the rest is beyond comprehension.

I'm glad your car is back and looking so good.  The interior is stunning (and not grey) but I reckon I'd be scared of marking it.  It is great that you are driving and enjoying the car.

Awesome car mate, i love it, especially the interior and the stance.
Some lowlife broke into my shed a while back, cleaned out my bar and stole a pack of smokes(probably doin me a favour with the smokes!!) then decided to try break into my torana. they only damaged one door and its window, but i barely slept for months and every noise i heard i was straight down the shed. Cant understand thieves, i had $4000 worth of billet wheels sitting next to my car, and they were more interested in rum!
Cant imagine how you feel mate having every panel keyed.. Looks great now though well done..

The shed is alarmed now, and a, er, um, 'truncated explosive device' lives under my bed waiting patiently for the next arsehole...
(to comply with warm and fuzzy  ::) 'pc' requirements and weaken subsequent litigation  ::), there's a sign on the gate that says "Trespassers will be shot. Survivors will be shot again...")

The trimmer is none other than Stinky (google 'streettrim') a moderator on this forum; he's located a bit out of Gawler, S.A.
There's no need for me to give him a big rap; just have a look at pics of his work  :) 8)

If it's not obvious from the pics, the interior is a pearl white. And so far, it hasn't turned out to be half as hard to keep clean as I thought (then again, it's not exactly a daily driver either...)

And if the car you're talking about for a new interior is the white one in your avatar, I'd personally keep WELL away from grey, but to each his own - it'd be a bloody boring old Holden scene if we all thought alike!

I feel for you Jack.

Two days ago some low-life c&*^s broke into my house and stole a whole heap of stuff. TV, laptops, etc. But what I couldn't understand is that that they left my new Cannondale road bike, which was in the house and worth around double the amount of the stuff they took.

Man I wish I had have caught them. I have practiced karate for years, and still do. I can't begin to mention the pain that they would have experienced.

Sorry Jack. Rant over. I can imagine the frustration and heartache you must have felt when you saw the FC. Looks awesome now - she's aging well.  I love the pearl white interior. ;)

hi jack ,my name is al ,i used to own your car .it was2 tone grey originaly ,still have a photo somewhere in the shed.was a good car to start with,no rust and very straight.still had the stock grey eng and box.the kid who built it was very fussy and spent a huge amount of time and dollars on it.good to see it again

Yep, it was 2 tone grey originally - I've got a pic of it before the kid and his old man (Mark and Ron) started work on it  :)
And you're dead right about them being very fussy and spending lots of $$ and time on the rebuild (this was the 13th old Holden they'd rebuilt). They told me it had all original panels, sills, subframe and floors; it certainly looked like that when I thoroughly checked it out, and that's the main reason I bought it (that and the top-notch rebuild; oh and I must admit I loved the colour it was painted!)
Since then, I have changed/modified/rebuilt almost every aspect of the car bar the gearbox and diff, and while it was being repainted and also stripped out for a new interior, I had a chance to have a real good look at the body - what they told me and what you've just said all seems to be correct  :) ;D which probably makes it a fairly rare item...
It's now running a warm 202 and modified Traumatic with an XU-1 LSD and HR disc front end.

I'd be real interested in seeing any pics you may have of it, also any other info about the car.

Gday Mark; long time no see!

As you've probably seen, there's been quite a few changes to the old girl since I bought it off you. But haven't changed a thing (internally) on the motor; it's done 24000 km now, and other than a new accelerator cable and 2 good tune ups (done by a mate who really knows modified red sixes) haven't had to touch it - still runs hard and sweet as a nut  ;D

There would be a lot of people on this forum other than Alex and me who would be really interested in info and pics of the ute build, so how about it?
You may find the odd sceptic who doubts you can get into 12s with an unblown red; after experiencing what you and Ron got out of the red in my car using just a pair of pissy Stroms, I definitely wont be one of them...  ;)

Hey jack mark[gassa] here yes ther has been a few sceptics on running a 12sec pass,me and the old man are confidant it can!! as they say wen the flag drops the bullshit stops.As with the motor in your fc its not about massive everything just the correct combinations.there are a few red sixes running in the 12s at willowbank with manual trans im running a trimatic with 3.7 diff gears[borgwarner diff].Its been a long time coming this car but this is the year it will be ready,il pass on the hello to my parents,and il get some photos of the ute up.cherrs mark

I must be overdue to cop a rocket for not tackling the above 'list', but I've got good excuses  :-[ work's a bit full-on this time of the year; also the Leader of the Opposition got real crook before Christmas and unfortunately stayed ill for the best part of a month, so my prime consideration was being nurse, housekeeper, cook, etc...
Luckily for me, she's pretty much back up to speed now, so I've had a little time to spend on the FC.
(She's obviously much better; she's criticising my grammar - reckons that in the preceding sentence there should be a full stop after 'pretty' and that the rest of it is completely superfluous... ;))

I could point out that these items are never seen while driving the car and are therefore irrelevant, and I could infer that the instigator of these 'improvements'  ::) may possibly be a pedantic, perfectionist, SCW-ish person...

[but I wont, because a) I'm not that incredibly stupid and totally heedless of my own wellbeing, and b) she's right...  :-[ ::) :-\ :-* :-* :-*]

but I AM a bit concerned about just what 'suggestions' she may come up with next...

Well Jack a fantastic attempt at completing the "list".  However, before tonight when Kathi will have an opportunity to investigate you may want to consider how to photoshop slots in the spare wheel and put on a white line on the tyre so they match the ones on the car.

Just remember I live with the "list" maker and I know her eye for detail.

I must say it is nice to see you made a decent attempt at your list - Alfred is quite correct in his comments about the non-slotted spare and the New Zealand Rugby Tyre  ::) He obviously does have skills to listen, retain and know not to commit specific sins!  ;)

And yes, Stinky, I also noted the flames in the shiney thing but you will note that I have refrained in the past from listing the under bonnet flames as I knew that was not a easy fix for him (and he's an old hoon at heart!) ::)

However, my dear Jack with the refresh of certain major aspects of the car over the last few years (albeit some having been commenced out of of act of flagrant disrespect) I feel it is now time for you to enjoy your car - it is finally what I believe you always wanted it to be...................

Well, (breathes huge sigh of relief  :P) I got out of that relatively unscathed... :)

Any 'flames' seen on the shiney thingy are only reflections; it's definitely a fair dinkum ridgy didge genuine NON-FLAMEY item...
(and there's NO WAY anyone will convince me to remove the ghost flames painted under the bonnet  >:()

It should be noted that as stock HK rims have a different offset to HT/G they wont fit under the back of my car without using spacers (and that's naughty...) due to the XU1 diff; hence the use of an HT rim.
The 'NZ Rugby' tyre was used because it was in good nick, the right OD (185/80/14) to match my rear wheels, and most importantly, was already in my spare tyres department... but when I win tattslotto, I'll buy a new whiteband one. ;)

I'm also amused that the non-matching trim ring and the lack of a baby moon hubcap attracted no flack!

And I'll reluctantly accept the "you're just getting too fricken' old to pick on" but be assured that I'll definitely be filing that one away for future defence  ;D

Anyhow, I think I'll go for a cruise around now... (with the bonnet and boot shut) ;D ;D ;D

Looks like I missed out on all the fun, You know I don't think you're too old to pick on Jack ;), anyway what's wrong with shiney/flamey things :P ;D, Mate I absolutely love those wheels, I don't know if it's just the angle of the shot or what but they look shit hot, good to see the old girl resurrected better than ever after her desecration, though you had me worried when I saw the white front guards in the earlier pic.

Pedro, I dont believe for a moment that she'll never pick on me again just because of my advanced old age...  and like you I'm still not 100% certain just why the shiney flamey thing was so offensive, but I've accepted that it just was...

And is it the 'road' wheels you like, or the 'new' spare?  They're completely different, and I'm very surprised that I didn't cop serious flack because of this  :)
