Title: Rear Indicators
Post by: DavesFCwagon on February 20, 2007, 08:01:50 AM
I just got some tail lights off E-Bay and pulled them apart for a clean. I noticed the inner brake light lenses are different colours and I am guessing this is due to fading but I thought I post it anyway to see what others think.

Both lenses have the same number up each side 7410528 but running across the bottom is the word Holden on both then the number 89 on the left one and the number 122 on the right.
Are they the same part?
Can I buy at tint to fix the left one?
Cheers
Dave

I believe they are both correct.  Unsure whether there was a production change or if they were by different suppliers.  There have been reported cases of NOS taillights with the orange lens inside so hard to see how they could have faded when never on a car.

Thanks for the reply Ken.
I remember reading a thread about a dye or stain you could use on faded lenses. Anybody know about this stuff?

You can buy lens dye in a spray can or a small bottle with a brush. It comes in amber or red and can be bought through Repco or Autobarn

ive used the red lens dye in a bottle,  its hard to get an even coat  and it fades and frosts over after about 6 months in the sun, ive only put it on the outside of the lens  it may work work better on the inside    a spray can sounds ok.
