Post by: Papa Smurf on December 23, 2006, 12:46:31 PM
Have some panels that were painted about 18 mths ago & wondering after 18 mths would I need to start again (primer) or would a good sanding be ok before applying the final coats

:)I would say just a good wash with prep wash would be ok as long as there is no suface rust, which can come through the primer as its porus, maybe a wash with soap and water first then use the prep wash, wax remover next!!.....jamie :)

Is it an etch primer or just a straight primer?
Were the panels done in bare metal or just scuffed up original paint?
If you took the panel to bare metal and it is not painted with etch primer I would take it off and redo with etch primer.  If it has been done with etch primer or over original paint, it should be OK as Jamie has said.
