If you want the motor to rev hard then solids are the way to go as they will not blow out like hydraulic's, which are standard on a grey. Under high revs / pressure the standard oil pump often can't keep up and the lifters fail . instead of having 12 thou on your exhaust you could end up with maybe 25 thou ,not good. Burnt valves etc. Hydro lifters, if a little bit worn on top can be machined flat as the oil will take up the difference. The downside of solids is that they need to be reset often , every couple of hundred miles to keep the tolerances right. If you have an everyday driver I'd suggest getting your hydro lifters machined and reconditioned. Any reputable engine recon shop should be able to help you out with this Brad.
