Title: All torque!! Post by: Russ on November 15, 2006, 12:30:10 AM Hey guys I'm hoping some one could shed some light on this one.
My dilemma is that i wont to build i motor that produces all its power in its lower rpm range. does this need a big or small carby, cam specs?? and i have heard that long narrow intake runners produce more torque??? i have no idea any help would be good.ha ha that rhymes. :D Russ Title: Re: All torque!! Title: Re: All torque!! Post by: Ed on November 15, 2006, 11:35:47 PM tricky one to answer as receipes for a good engine are normally a well kept secret....
what engine?? by big cam, you mean lots of lift and long duration?.. i reckon not good for torque but good for revs. big carb is probably not the answer either as you would probably need to jet down anything "big" otherwise you would have a soggy throttle response. narrow intake runners do work well for more torque as your intake velocity is higher, thereby filling your combustion chambers quicker. The trade off is at higher revs those runners which have good velocity at lower revs now start to restrict flow. Another thing to remember is the runners are not of equal length and there is an uneven distribution of fuel/air charge. But I reckon a good torquey motor is fun for a street car. ....a turbo diesel perhaps? Sorry to be of little help Cheers Ed Title: Re: All torque!! Post by: suziecreamcheese on November 15, 2006, 11:44:03 PM hey russ what engine is this for?? im pretty sure a longer duration cam will increase torque but if your talking holden 6 we found our best torque figure with the same engine 202 were prodeced with 1 3/4 sus compared to a 465 holley high compression will increase your torque but all these will not make a huge difference (i put a 20 hp nos kit on my bike and my torque rose by 20 percent) i hope this helps cheers Andy

Post by: suziecreamcheese on November 16, 2006, 12:00:27 AM k1 gsxr 1000 torque was 72 went to 87 ... hp was147 went to 163 with a nx dry shot i was amazed how much the nos raised the torque

Title: Re: All torque!! Post by: Ed on November 16, 2006, 04:27:35 AM i reckon Suzie = Suzuki. as in K1 Gixxer thou.
