Aside from the lack of tarnish (factory applied frosting ::)) it looks very good.

Brett

PS: will prototypes 2, 3 & 4 suit the other dorrs?

Looks good Ken.
Would Rares do them with a frosted centre? If they all look like this 1 in your pic they would well and truly fit the bill.
cheers,
Graham

Price is not settled yet, this is prototype testing time only so don't get excited just yet.
There will be 4 different plates in the final set - as per originals
As for the frosted centre, they were available with and without the frosting and unclear at this stage whether it is possible, whether it will cost more with or without the frosting and if the frosting will make the polishing easier.

Thank you for your comments

Ken

Seems to be quite a few listings of horn caps and scratch plates on ebay recently ,most likely selling before the repro items appear on the market ,does anyone have any idea how long it may be before these items are available new .  thanks Steve . ;)

I think frosted ones would look better than chrome ones , a more original look, any out come yet?

Rares are now producing a complete set of 4 as a prototype and after they are approved, production will start.
Give it a few months yet.
Can't have all these things happening at once, we currently have Scuffplates, horn button and plastic seat surrounds all happening, so some patience is needed.

Yes, I have received a set of four which were trialled on a car and needed to have some slight modifications done to the shape.  The tabs were all in the right places and the appearance was very good.

I got them back from Rares about 3 weeks ago - the manufacturer's said they had been fixed as I had requested. When I trialled them on my car they were still wrong so I sent them back for more work.
No point in releasing them if they are not right :P

Unfortunately no - seems a bit of a stand off occurring between Rares and the supplier. They seem unable to be able to supply a product good enough to sell at this stage.

how long does it take to make these scratch plates-I reckon I could have hand filed a set from a billot by now!

From my last chat with Rares about these I would say they are history. The supplier cannot make them reliably to fit
