Title: FC Wagon Shell
Post by: Cat on April 27, 2004, 11:43:44 AM
In Sydney.......a shell and subframe and that's it.  No wheels, doors or anything.  Excellent donor shell for a rusty wagon - a small section of the front floor needs replacing.  The tank area is excellent.  I have to get it out of my friend's garage this weekend and I can't get it to Melbourne so if you want it let me know or it gets the the big chopperooney!!

Cat,

Is it on a trolley and therefore able to be moved?

Regards

Edward

ED, I sold this shell to CAT some time ago and can vouch for its usability... Its far to good to chop,or I would have chopped it up myself. and worth the effort to pickup. Even if it means chucking a front crossmember and rear end in to get rolling..... ..... Just my 2 cents worth.     Good wagon shells are getting harder and harder to find, Just ask RUSTY.

I remember this shell as well and agree 100% with Slim, this is definately worth saving. It also had some minor rust on the passenger side "A" pillar - on the windscreen upright from memory, but still a very worthwhile shell.

Cheers,

Craig.

I have a trolley I made to move my wagon around during its rebuild which I am no longer using if you want to borrow it.

Thanks guys, however I'm not after a shell for restoration, just bits and pieces for my sedan, such as the cowl area.

Sounds like this one is too good to cut up for that purpose.

I need a few cuts for my shell Ed, if nobody takes it for a resto, u interested in getting it and cutting it up for bits, I certainly am.

Cheers

Ed

Ed's
I will be in it as I could do with some spare bit for my wagon. It seems a shame to cut it up but if nobody wants it for a resto & Cat's got to get rid of it than its better to go for spares than to go to scrap metal.

Well I'm in for a chop as well as I need a LHF inner sill for my wagon down here.  I was thinking of coming up this weekend and spending saturday with slim and a couple of grinders if no-one wanted the shell.  I'm happy to make it a group event if you're all interested!

Oh, and yes Harko I'll bring that bumperette this time!!!!

Hey guys, the car is actually at my friends place in Camden.  I'll call him to check if 45 grinders are welcome.  Otherwise I can trailer it to slims but that an extra $50 for a trailer for me :(

I was hoping to do it on Saturday so I can go on the garage crawl on Sunday....what say you?

If one of you gents needs choppy bits off this shell , Perhaps one of you can help cat do the chop on Satday.,,, At Camden , No point dragging a Shell from Camden to my joint just to cut it up... ...... And an oxy would make things much easier and quicker than my Grinder , Which Im terrified of !!!!.....

its sounding like Saturday at Camden...

I have a grinder, and may be able to bring an oxy if i can wrangle some appropriate transport.

further details .. address, time etc...

Cheers

Post by: Ed on April 29, 2004, 03:30:04 AM
hmm..

that would be too tempting to keep it, transfer all my gear into the better shell, and let my shell go for parts... not mentioning having to rework most of my gear to fit up.... hey, this is sounding good!.. not.

If it can be towed to Dural from Camden then I guess it would be OK, but the shell would probably not be allowed to stay (as it's my folks place - and ive already overstayed my welcome... hmm).

So it could be towed there and chopped to bits, and the carcass fed to the scrappers. (not that there would be much left Id imagine).

Cheers

Ed

Bags the cowl....

I can supply the oxy kit, however, I may be moving other vehicles around on Saturday morning due to irreconcilable differences with a panelbeater.......

Maybe we do it on Sunday and make the garage tour interactive?

Then you could have 20 lunatics armed with grinders.

Edward

And the sills and maybe tank area for me........and John Rap wants to check out the subframe......Ed or Slim can you help me do these - I need training in the grinder department!

And can you guys tell me what to do with the remnants?!  We might need a trailer I guess.

Just spoke to my mate Craig and he's welcomed us over any time.  I was thinking either in the morning say 10am or after lunch - say 1pm might be good?

Hi Cat,

10am is prefferred altho either is OK.

I can prolly help you chop out various sections, I seem to have many hours in this dept... unfortunately

remanants... In the past I have called the "old cars removed free" ads and they do exactly that....

Cheers

Ed

If it were at 1pm, I could probably make it.

I could then bring my oxy, my grinder, and .......... my tip truck!

(Although it's a bloody long drive to Camden in a Dyna!)

This is beginning to sound like fun.

Glenn are you near Camden? Maybe I could drop in afterwards and  take the template of the exhaust through the subframe we discussed?

Edward

Well the more the merrier, or should I say "Two eds are better than one!!  ;D (sorry, sorry, sorry!)

Seriously, I have no cutting equipment or experience at all so any help is appreciated, particuarly if I canlearn a thing or three in the process.

Oh, and I've got a box trailer for the tip if we need it.

Slim, do you still want to come over and play?

Harko,
I will be cutting up a rusty FC Wagon on long weekend.  Roof is OK.
Wagon is at Wagga, you would have to arrange own pick up.
Let me know if interested.

Whats the drive time to Wagga from Sydney on a straight run ?

Cat Is your old roof scrapped or is it saveable somewhere ?

Sorry Harko it's gone and you know it just figures, since we cut up that damn thing there's been more enquiries for shells and bits off it than I could poke a stick at.  Still, it helped out about 4 or 5 people so it can't be all bad.  You could try the metal section at Jacks Gully at Narellan to see if it's still there??
