During restoration I took The sun visor off my FE wagon and it too had two (2) colours. The top was (is to be again) Elk Blue and the underside was Red.

Leon

I agree with Jamie they do work with little effort and a bit of lube.I have one and used it on some stuborn wagon bits. The bits (Bolts /Nuts ) give in to a little persuasion.

Mike ,I had a similar problem with my boot not staying  open and upon inspection found the left spring was in back to front and the mechanism had some how flipped through, causing it to work against the other spring and drag the boot shut.It took a bit of time to work it out hense the "NASCO Boot stick".Anyway what I did was make a special tool for the springs using the diagram from the Workshop Manual. With a screw driver and a cover (rag) over the spring (to keep it from doing me any damage)and to keep it within the boot worked it and the mechanism off, turned it the right way round and using the "Special Tool" fixed it back into place. I also found it easier to do with the boot closed partially as there is less tension on the spring and a piece of cloth over the boot lock to prevent being locked in.It took me about 20 mins to do but the end result is the boot stays up unassisted.

Cheers Rusty (And good luck)

Congratulations to everyone involved in a (once again )top display. I was there on Saturday for a look and drool at the amount of totally awsome machines on display and that one stand that really stood out,"OURS" which you could see from the centre of the building. Again congratulations to all.

387  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Any V8 worthy disks on: June 15, 2006, 03:37:54 AM
Russ,

I've got Torana Discs(Ventilated I've been told) and calipers on my FE Sedan and it pulls up very well and very straight. They are thicker than the HR discs as I've compared them to a new set of HR disc I have for my FE wagon .
Mind you I'm only running a Grey motor but that shouldn't make much difference I suppose, but maybe it does I don't know.
(I've got a photo of your car from that trip I'll dig it out and send it to you)
Cheers again Rusty

Just going off topic for a minute Russ.My wife and I were passing through Darwin a couple of years ago and I spotted a car that looks similar to the one pictured next to your name for sale on the side of the road near Super Cheap Auto on the main road. Was that the car.It looked pretty good back then and yes we did stop to look at it .Couldn't get a phone number as the sign had fallen over inside the car.

390  Technical Board / Restoration Help / EK Metal Bench Seat Ends on: June 13, 2006, 03:52:12 AM
 Huh

I'm after some info on the metal seat ends.First. Has anyone used them on an FE-FC front bench ? Second. Are there any mods that need to be done or do they screw straight into the same holes as the plastic ones? And Third and final (I hope) Has anyone got any photos of them fitted into an FE or FC.

Leon,

I've got the HR sway bar fitted to the front of my FE. I have the HR ends as well as the FC /FE ends are to long and tend to interfere with the performance (ride and control)at the front. The brackets are FC/FE.I'll photo it this arvo after work and email it to you.

Rusty.
