Hi Guys

I was up at a mates farm today and had a look at the old FE Ute he has. I noticed on a ID plate that beside(to the right) of the stamped trim and paint numbers were a couple of letters stamped. Half way between them the letters "A S" are stamped.
I removed the ID tag so i could take photos of it to post up.

Any ideas???

Cheers a-c

All Sydney FE utes had AS stamped after the trim number - All I can presume is that the Sydney plant used a different trim manufacturer than all the other plants and therefore they were identified by the letter stamp after the numbers
Interestingly Sydney special sedans have AO, standard sedans have AP & business sedans have AQ
All sydney vans and wagons were made in Adelaide so they dont have the code.
But AO, AP, AQ, AR, AS is alphabetical - and there is no AR code that I have ever seen.  Possibly this was reserved for Sydney production of wagons or vans which never happened.

Intrigueing isn't it?  Ken

Hi Ken

Thanks for the reply, very interesting. Was this letter coding only used on the FE's or did it carry onto FC's as well?

Regards Mark.
