4501  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Roof Gutter Stainless Strips on: February 24, 2003, 12:01:18 PM
Can anyone offer any advice on removing the stainless trim from the roof gutters, I want to polish it and put it back when the car is painted, so a non-destructive method is prefered.

Thanks.
4502  General / General Board / Recommendations on: February 23, 2003, 04:05:15 AM
There is a section for Rants, Raves and Dummy-Spits, what are the chances of Recommendations, Praise and Butt Kissing? so that Members can make their recommendation for suppliers and services in each state. Just like the Chrome Plating thread in the Resto Section.

Maybe lock it down to a ceratin number of Topics? Say Paint and Panel, Chrome, Trim, Mechanics, Engineers, Wreckers?
4503  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Teardrop mirrors - where can I find them? on: February 20, 2003, 05:46:01 AM
Most rod shops and even a few general motor stores may stock that stuff. Just don't go shopping in Castlemaine Smiley.

I have seen most of the gear you want at Rod-Tech in SA http://www.rodtech.com.au and they do COD.
4504  For Sale and Wanted / Parts For Sale / Re: volvo disc diff bargain on: February 15, 2003, 09:45:06 AM
I am not surprised Nicko, when I was looking around the diffs are cheap but the LSDs are worth around $1500 (from memory)
4505  For Sale and Wanted / Parts For Sale / Re: volvo disc diff bargain on: February 14, 2003, 12:09:48 PM
Hey Brad
Are they open-wheelers or LSD?
I pursued the Volvo diffs once and gave up after I found out the price of an LSD.
4506  General / General Board / Re: Chat room on: February 14, 2003, 09:15:23 AM
How's this for an idea, maybe RET can put a survey on the front page for the prefered day/time of people wanting to chat. Then make the top 2-3 "official" chat sessions.
4507  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Where can I find moon disc hubcaps and whitewa on: February 14, 2003, 01:54:22 AM

Can't for the life of me think what the damn name is, I'll cruise past tomorrow and get some details for you.
4509  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Where can I find moon disc hubcaps and whitewa on: February 13, 2003, 05:24:28 AM
There is a rod shop in Adelaide that does 13", 14" and 15" full moons in either Aluminium or stainless, not sure of the price $120 a set I think.
They also do baby moons which apparently fit a 14" HK Rim.
4510  General / General Board / Re: Chat room on: February 13, 2003, 05:12:40 AM
Although I haven't used it yet, wouldn't it be a good idea to organise a "meeting".
Say twice a week at different times so that people can co-ordinate a session?
Of course continue with Ad-hoc sessions, but at least everyone will know twice a week (or whatever) they are guaranteed to have someone to chat to.

4512  For Sale and Wanted / Other Stuff For Sale / Re: t-shirts on: February 12, 2003, 09:05:45 AM
Maybe we could organise a "web-site" T-Shirt?
With an FE and an FC?

I reckon Alex's artwork is up to the task if he agrees to contibute, sell them for $20 a pop and the profits go to the club after maybe a small fee for the artwork etc.

Just a thought.
4513  Galleries / Members' FEs and FCs / FC Taxi Photo and a FB/EK Custom on: February 10, 2003, 08:55:20 AM
Here are a couple of shots of interest from today's SMASA Show and Shine at Hahndorf.

Yellow Cabs - FC Taxi

Interior

Interesting Custom, very nice conversion, interior was a bit cactus, but the wierdest thing was that the boot was welded closed!

Which state are you in?
4515  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Air con with red motor on: January 31, 2003, 12:57:10 PM
If you are keen (read handy with a spanner) there have been plenty of holdens with red sixes fitted with air-con.  There was a range of bracketry to suit mounting on both sides of the motor. Brackets and parts shouldn't be too much of a problem to buy at a wrecker, just a matter of selecting a model that suits your needs and/or fits under the dash.

These days you could probably pickup a car for wrecking fairly cheap, grab the air-con gear, then sell off the rest.
4516  Galleries / Other Images / Re: Al fresco Meeting... on: January 19, 2003, 07:04:18 AM
Not sure what you have planned for future meetings, but the Street Machine Assoc of SA holds its meetings at a centrally located pub on a quiet Monday night once a month.

Members are welcomed to come an hour before the meeting for dinner. There is a private room that is made available (at no cost I believe) and it is a comfortable relaxed atmosphere.

If you could find a willing pub you could save $30 a month.

I'm not sick yet, but you're giving me ideas now for my future (very much in the future) Wagon project.

I was thinking of a woodie, but then I imagined your car as a Wagon, a small chop, slammed, painted House of Colour Orange like Mark Jones' FAT57, Satin Chromework (probably painted silver), Cream interior, big sound and maybe a V6, billets or baby moons.

BTW - for those interested in chop-top Glass and guy sent me his businesses web-site - http://www.sparseglass.com.au
worth a look
4520  General / General Board / HR Front-End prices on: December 17, 2002, 12:46:53 PM
I know this has been covered before, but my search failed to find the thread I was after.

Anyhoo, what's the going rate for disc HR Front Ends these days?
