I am looking for the yoke of an old tail shaft to put into my gearbox to stop oil running out when I remove the tail shaft. Will the spline from an EH fit the FC box? Thanks in advance.

If you can't get a yoke, your local spare parts shop will have a multi-fit plastic dummy gearbox extension housing plug. If you do use a real yoke it may pay to wire it in place as the weight of them will cause it to slip off if the box is lifted too far off the horizontal.
Cheers

I always keep a spare one somewhere in the shed to keep the oil in my gearbox but they are also handy when replacing the box back into the clutch , you can find a gear with a spanner on the linkage nut then use your half inch socket drive through the yoke to turn the gearbox internals so the front shaft spline finds its way into the clutch . The EH spline is the same.

Thanks all. I picked a "fits all" bung in town today and this evening a mate dropped an EH yoke around.

I found that the red plastic double ended "fits all" bungs being sold by some spares shops will not fit a grey crashie. A Woolies plastic sink plug with a hole punched in it does a decent job, though a plastic bag wired over it is good insurance.
