Title: fc van
Post by: v8 wagon on August 04, 2004, 09:27:05 AM
I have just bought this van after many months of looking, and many years of desiring...

she was totally rebuilt 8 years ago, with a 179 and a 4 speed all aussie.

I am looking for suggestions for personalised plates?

Nice looking Van.
Congrats on finding the car of your dreams.
The plates that are on it look cool, why change them?

Van looks sweet.......and obviously the previous owner went to great lengths to score those plates.....they only other plates I'd put on it, would be a set of WA FE FC Club Plates....but I don't think we have any yet....could be a good topic for discussion at future club meetings, if not already discussed.

I'm hanging out for a set of cool WA FE FC Club plates with our Logo smack in the middle of them......must have to talk to Gary or Brad ( President ).

Is that an HR steering Wheel ???

Cheers

Looks good.

Keep the plates, they describe the car.

very nice.  I am into the look of your van it is very simple and straight.

The color is one that will not date blue is always in and as for the number plates.

Dont know what you can have over there but over here it is 3 letters 2 numbers or two numbers three letters

I like CLA51 (Clasi), CLA55 (Class), 45HOW (4 Show)

just to name a few

SHAGNWAGN     ?

ps would you like to swap for a boring beige wagon
the longboards would look cooler on a P.V.

Mint looking van, if you decide to change the plates could you try swaping or trading them with a Club Member first so as to keep those plates 'alive'.

yep its a very neat looking van
i reckon those plates fit nicely
good idea to save the plates
i tried swapping plates with a mate once..we were told it could only be done if we had the same surname :-/
so i bought his car , changed the plates then sold it back to him without leaving the rego office  :-[
there was shtload of paper work & grumbling from the bird doing the work....think the total cost was about $70
& that was the shortest time i had ever owned a car.
im guessing it would be easier to do in some places & more difficult in others as they appeared to make up the rules as they went along.

$70 well spent I'd say.....sure it's a lot of stuffin around, but try and buy a set of custom plates....half as much paper work, but takes over 6 weeks and you'll see little change out of $200 - $500 depending on what plate of course !

I had the plates CANON on my car ( V8 at the time ), then decided I wanted them on my new Bike......now bike plates are half the size and half as many ( only one plate for a bike )...and the cost to make new plates......exactly the saem as car plates........now, think about it...half the size and half as many, but same full price as a set of car plates.....it's all about STAMP DUTY and filling the coffers of the State Govt...got to love em !

A different view, the colour is very similar to the current b.a. falcon, although this paint was created 8 years ago from the painters fertile imiganation.

The steering wheel /column is hr as the last owner felt the original wheel was too big?

these no. plates are normal state plates, not personalised and I was hoping to make it more "mine" by changing them.

I also am looking for a photo/ details of the "dickie" seat,  that fits in the back., if any one has any info I would appreciate it.

Keep the plates.  They say: 1A FC 179.  They say everything about the car that anyone would want to know and are quite individual.  If you reckon that the car is not 1A (A1?) then go for it.

The HR steering wheel is the same diameter as the FC version.  Try to get a HD/HR Premier Horn bar, as it has a semi-circle ring just like the FC ones do.  Pull your wheel off and repaint it in the car's colour too.  It will make a difference.

Spinner.

Cool looking van...! I agree the plates suit the van.... and ones like "BLUEY", "BLU.EFC", or even "BLU 179" etc are probably all gone anyway.

As for info/photos on the dickie seat, there are a couple of pics like this one on this post, about a van Slim used to own (not sure if he's still got it or not..?)...
