Hi all,
 I want to build a car trailer which I would be using to move my van and other cars from time to time.
Just wondering if anyone would have a good set of plans that I could use or know where I may buy a set. If I build it, I want to get it right with regard to wheel position, drawbar length ect. I don't want anything that is an over kill weight wise.

When I done the sides on my van, I had these sections pressed. I didn't worry about the slight curve. I just  put a bead of sicaflex down the inside and pushed it into position and welded them in. Can't really notice the gap.

You could get the metal worker to roll a slight curve in them after he presses them if you wanted.

 Doing up a car with as much rust in it as this one had can be very trying. The finish line can seem a long way off at times. I am lucky because the brother inlaw is a Panel beater and he made some things that I thought were impossible look easy. Like making one guard out of three and the great job he did filling in the windows.
Thank you to the people who helped out with parts over the years and thanks to this site. I may not post a lot on the site, but most of the knowledge came from here.
The car is not quite finished yet, but I wanted to put it in our local holden clubs car show a couple of weeks ago so it went in on a trailer.

This looks like a happy ending but the person who let me spend all my spare time and money on this van and was to share the good times of club runs and show and shines ect, did not get to see the car finished.
My Wife was diagnosed with Lymphoma in June and passed away in December at the age of 42.
She would have loved the van.
All I can say guys is make the most of every day. You never know what is around the corner.

Pull out the front sparkplug. Turn engine over by hand until you feel air (compression)coming out of cylinder. This will mean that No1 piston is coming onto the firing stroke. Look at timing mark and when it is lined up, No1 will be on TDC.
Take the cap off the dissy and the rotor button should be facing in line with the lead going to No1 cylinder. If it is 180degs out, undo the retaining bolt of the dissy and lift it out far enough to turn the centre shaft to the correct position.
If you haven't taken the dissy out, check that you have the leads in the correct firing order.
Also check the way the dissy rotates and make sure you have the firing order going the correct way.

Where did I find them. A mate of mine's father passed away and left a lot of early holden gear including an FJ in good condition. He was into racing speedway when he was young and I'm pretty sure he had a TQ or what ever they called them, with a bombed up grey motor in it.
All the gear was sold of in the town where he lived, except for the alloy sideplate and the tappet cover.
The mate grabbed them for me.
A box of Bundy cans was a good price I think. Smiley

I have just brought an alloy sidecover marked JWL and an alloy tappet cover marked WEY with the intention of fitting them to my grey motor.
The tappet cover is in great condition and would polish up without to much work. I don't think it has been used. The side cover is a different story. It is painted yellow which is no big deal, but the casting looks to be a bit rough under the paint.
Has anyone polished one of these up with good results and how would I go about it. Could the imperfections be filled with TIG welding maybe. Just after ideas.
Can you buy a good oil filler cap to go on the alloy tappet cover?

Option c ... You could go directly to Ayers Rock via Leonora, Warburton ect. Went that way myself a few years ago. Dirt roads are well marked and you would have a good chance of picking up some spare parts for the FC. Make sure the surfboards tied down tight.  Grin

Thanks for posting the pics Stinky.
Its been a while since I removed these moulds. I'm not into EK's ect so I'm not to sure where they all fit. They came off two cars but they are not two complete sets.
I would say some would be too long for aust post, but would be happy to  work out transport.

Having a bit of a shed clean out and came across a heap of moulds from a couple of EK wagons that was dumped some years ago.
If anyone has any interest in these, let me know and I will send a pic.
I also have some glass from the rear.

I think fitting a keyless locking system to the door is one good idea.

I think I heard about it on this site some time ago.

Aftermarket systems are not to expensive.

I have recently done this job to my van. I used 25 x 3 stainless flat.

I used a piece of ply for the floor. Rather then just laying the stainless stips on top of the ply, I had the ply routed to a depth of about half or a bit more the thickness of the stainless so that the stainless screwed down into the slots but still sits proud of the ply.

I did this to hid any small gaps between the ply and strips. Works a treat and looks good.

The old metal ones that I removed were flat.

The chances of you getting a good result are pretty slim.

Your chances of doing damage to the engine would be pretty high.

You would be better off stripping the engine before you damage the crank or bend a valve ect ect.
