Hi All.

I live in Queensland and I'm after some guidance on what engine swap I could do without having to go the engineering/compliance path. I'm not looking to make this a permanent swap. Just wanting to be able to use the car while I decide what I'm going to with the original motor. I was looking for a grey runner to put in but they are hard to find around here. I've got a 161 and I was going to put this in but after reading some of the previous posts on what's required to do a swap (mostly other states) I'm having second thoughts. I know I'll have to weld in some mounts and I was going to weld them onto the original crossmember but everything I've read refers to HR disc brake front ends.
How hard does this have to get Huh

Mark, This may or may not help, I have attached some instructions that came with an old style Eddie Thomas kit to do this conversion

The kit is pretty basic & looks to contain pretty much what is on the later front ends that you weld on then bolt the motor up to

So maybe you could measure and make them out of cardboard from a wreckers then make, or have someone make up these mounts & weld them on ?

cheers Gary

Hi Mark,
I have a FE wagon that is currently running a 161 from a HG and a drum HR front end.
I think it was minimum modifications as red motor engine mounts are on HR front.
Brakes are ok for general use, still using grey gearbox.
