I dunno if i am classified as stupid or not and i am not a mechanic or engineer, but i do not understand some outer guard clearances that i am seeing in pics compared to what i am experiencing. i have (hr disc front) standard commodore wheels 6" with 205/65/15 on hq stubs/rotors (redrilled). on full compression and lock hit the outer guard while also narrowing track due to their width. With this diameter tyre it is perfect for my speedo with supra box and 3.7 vn diff ratio. i understand its slightly oversize than original. Was told by Bob Jane that there are no smaller tyres to fit the rim legally(load/speed) true?? but told i could go 215/55/15 for correct diameter but that is pushing the tyre further into outer guard, ?? I see many members cars (eg smithy) with 17''s and the outside edge of tyre/rim sit heaps further out than mine. Doesn't this cause outer guard clearance issues?? id don't have rack and pinion steering but if i did would it mean that i could only turn the wheels about 10 degrees?? Some of these pics i see it seems as soon as you turn the wheels your tyre is under the guard with less than 30mm to spare. do these guys have suspension that will never compress more than 25mm?? Will it pass engineering? If so what is the point of bump stop clearance?? I could go back to hr stubs but that would be narrowing the track even further with commodore wheels. Do i have to fit old 14'' commodore wheels?? can someone help cause i'm at a dead end. How can i get exact track if necessary and guard clearance with commodore wheels even if i get custom offset??
Love you guys
Chris

Chris one of the things commonly done to narrow the track (you need to narrow the track to get the tyre away from the guard) is to fit P76 rotors. This kit saves about 20 mm per side.
Hoppers Stoppers in Melbourne can supply this kit - not really cheap but should fix your problem.

Chris I run 17 x 7 with 110mm back space all the way around with commodore rotors and Ute is lowered all around and wheels don't scrape but have rolled the front lips on the guards a bit as Ken mentioned the P76 rotor have a smaller hat on the rotor that = 18mm a side less but you should be able to get wheels to fit your present set up with the right back spacing to clear every thing .........FC427......
