Daily drivers  Grin Grin Grin

The poor old wagon gets well used and abused  Grin
There's usually a trailer attached or something on the board racks or stuff in the dog box

Always get lots of waves and thumbs up and people winding down windows for a chat at the traffic lights

Cathy always expects a 2 minute trip down to Bunnings to take me 2 hours, because you always meet someone who owned, who's parents owned, had an uncle who owned, knew someone who owned or always wanted to own an FC (or FE)

Just wondering how many people use their FE-FC for other things other than cruising around looking cool
I don't know how I would manage without my roof rack & tow bar
These are just over the past couple of months

Can I call my metal shed a Barn ?....   it does have lots of dust

I got the 1/2 a bumper as a Xmas pressie from Cathy's daughter. . I asked for something old.
Thought it was about time I hung it up. ( I still don't know what vehicle it came off.. she was told FB Holden ! )
I will add my other bits to the wall as I get time.(the boot has more bits in it & I can unbolt bits off the Ugly Duckling)

65  General / General Board / My art ? on: March 04, 2019, 07:12:15 PM
I have a bare wall in the shed. So i am going to turn it into a work of art.

I may consider selling. Looking for offers over $$$1.5million. (Think of it as a great investment)

66  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: indicators not flashing on: February 19, 2019, 12:34:57 AM
Thanks Ken
The indicator unit has always been wobbly but this is the first time I've stuck my head under there to find there is a screw/bolt ? missing
is the missing screw/bolt any particular dimension ? I will see if any club member has one lying around in a shed.

Would I be correct in assuming my auto electrician would have an electronic flasher can that would fit (is it a generic item or something specific to fit a 60 year old car ?)

67  Technical Board / General Technical / indicators not flashing on: February 18, 2019, 01:51:44 PM
The indicators on the FC wagon have stopped flashing
they all come on, on the correct side of the vehicle when you move the indicator arm but just stay lit up. the corresponding green arrow on the dash just stays lit also

Notes
The wagon is modified.. has H4(?) headlights and some upgraded electric things
It seemed to happen after I took the Hot Rod scooter to work for a whole week and ignored the FC
Is it just being temperamental ?
It seems to have started (maybe) when I hooked up the trailer
Could the trailer harm the wagons electrics ?
The drivers side front indicator is loose and we have noticed the light can be a little duller until you jiggle the indicator unit and it comes brighter again
is it just a bad earth connection
noticed there is a vacant hole.. should these three be nuts and bolts or screws  (typically my wagon seems to have an assortment) What do I buy if I want to replace them ?

just wondering what the possible causes might be
Having NO technical abilities...
do I just leave it with an Auto sparky to figure out and fix

I'm still here  Grin
Whether that is good or bad is debatable.

I just pop in to see what everyone is up to
or ask a question...   Like why did my wagons indicators stop flashing Huh...  I think it threw a hissy fit because I rode the hot rod scooter to work for a whole week  Roll Eyes

and I'm a Guru  Shocked Shocked Shocked Huh
which proves GURU status has absolutely no relationship to knowledge about FE/FCs (or computer stuff or most other things)

I use Facebook but find it very instant and things disappear quickly never to be found.  and to many posts just turn into verbal abuse between two or three people and degenerate into gutter trash.

I'm going away now.....
but I will be back

Spotto at 0.42

Took Cathy to the Pics last night to see Ladies in Black
The movie is set in Sydney at Xmas in 1959
I was happy to see a nice FC in the opening scene
I went home bruised as Cathy would hit me every time I shouted SPOTTO whenever an FC or FE appeared  Grin

I got it back together and it works  Grin
(after pulling it apart again to put the dust boot rubbery bit back on )
Not exactly aligned properly but it's good enough for me
(I am NOT pulling that chrome bit off again... it takes me forever to line up two screws to put it back on)
( I have little patience  Roll Eyes)

I thought I might be able to access the light from under the front guard and simply just unplug the globe
but the bowl shaped thing was in the way

so
I followed instructions on page 300 of workshop manual

but it doesn't look like the one in the manual  (NOTHING in my wagon looks like anything in the manual  Huh Roll Eyes Shocked Cry)
mine has a lot fewer bits than the one in the manual

the headlight also has two holes in it ( a smaller one below the pluggy in thingy bit)

I have one old slotted screw & 2 new allenkey screws holding the light onto the body.  I think these should be adjusting screws but they screw tight to the bodywork (no springs). if i don't screw them all the way in the chrome surround doesn't sit on properly

76  Technical Board / General Technical / HELP ! h4 headlight bulb replacement on: June 24, 2018, 02:57:52 PM
knowing the wagon has modifications that has mechanics scratching thier heads...
How hard could it be to change a light bulb ? i thought to myself
pulled out the headlight ( thats a story of it's own!) and thought i just unplug the wires, unclip the bulb, pull it out then do reverse to fix it.

This white bit does NOT want to budge

Do i just need to be more forcefull or gently persistent  ?

or am i pulling apart the wrong bit ! ! ! ?

Driving home from another looooong day in a 12 day week at work  Cry  Cry  Cry

The rain has stopped and it's a cool evening, windows wound down, arm hanging out, stereo has Jerry Lee Lewis cranked up to 110 decibels (to blow away the cobwebs in my head)
Cruise up to the red light and pull up behind a shiny, big black, muscley, brand new mustang
Family pulls up alongside in a Korean thing. Can see Dad gesturing to the kids in the back seat
Then the windows wind down and the kids all jostle for position on the back seat
so they can give the Cooool FC Wagon the thumbs up  Grin Grin Grin
a quick wave back to the kids and we all drive off with smiles on our faces

I love having a daily driver  Grin Grin Grin

Why don't you just turn up the volume on the quadraphonic stereo system until the noise goes away John ?
(then call the RAC tow truck when it breaks down.... that's what I would do  Shocked Roll Eyes Huh)

You do have a quadraphonic stereo system don't you  Grin ?
