Title: FE Engine Bay Colour
Post by: Ed on February 26, 2002, 09:58:31 PM
What colour engine bay should an FE station sedan have?

At the moment, firewall is body colour and engine bay walls are semi gloss black.  is this factory?

any help is appreciated.

Station sedan engine bay colours are the same as sedan and all other models to my knowledge.  In 1956 the FE started out with body colour firewall and semi gloss black skirts.  Some time in 1957 (maybe around the time the chassis number shifted from the battery side to the drivers side), the factory changed to painting the firewall and skirts all body colour.  So the colour of your car depends on the year of your car - if you let me know the ID plate details and chassis number of your car, I will be able to tell you exactly when your car was made.

currently semi gloss black skirts (appears factory)

Hi Guys
Don't know if this will help or not,
My August 57 FE 225 has a hand stamped chassis number on battery side, and has the entire engine bay in body colour with semi gloss black only in the void behind the grill.
Does this help???
Cheers
Tony
