Rob, there is a guy in Queestown, Dave (Can't remember surname, but he lives on Jakins Street - town end) who has one of these, at last I am pretty sure it is a 37 or might have been a 39.  It was in Queenstown for years before he found it and apparently it use to be either the Premier or Govenors car (I can't remember now).

He planned on chopping it and fitting all his HSV running gear to it.  I am sure he will have all the parts he striped off still lying around as he was a magpie.  If I remember his name I will let you know, alternatively if you are passing through, give me a yell and I will draw you a map.  He is a good bloke and would be stoked that you dropped by.

Cheers,
Mike

Hi Mike.
Man, that would be great. These babies have a stack of accessories as well, so here we go again! BUT, most of the accessories were the same for the American Chevs, so it will be easier to fnd them.

Checked the numbers on the car today. Wait for it.
Holden body number: "6"
Model: "Chev Master"
Series: "Coupe"
Job No: "Deluxe"

Sweet & simple, Huh??

I finally got my frigging camera to work tonight. Man, you should have seen me freaking out! Swearing & ranting, because "I DID EVERYTHING RIGHT". ! Well, I was sure I did. Had the bloody plug in the wrong socket. Put it in the right one & my pictures now all download from the cameraa to the computer.
Easy :-/ Embarrassed Embarrassed
Tomorrow, I will take some shots.

Jason,
thanks for that link. Man, some of those trucks are SWEEEEEEEET. I found a Chev 52 (I think) on Ebay Motors USA last night, which I would happily give my left nad for (Married, who needs it?). It was a concourse resto & fully accessorised, but not a xmas tree at all. Looked great.

Nice looking sloper, Rob.
I also stumbled across 'stovebolt.com' the other day in my search for info on my 1929 Chev truck (1 1/2 ton model) with 6 cylinder grey motor (215 sounds right?) and four speed gearbox.
Nothing like a bit of variety.  My wife actually said those magical words the other night,'You need a bigger shed.'
I don't think I'll let her forget that!

Torque, forget about the canadian block.  It is a trick that most of us have fallen for at some point.

Interestingly Rob, I always thought that the EJ blocks were more popular for rebuilds too, but one of the reasons could just be that they are the 'newest' of the greys, and therefore less fatigued?  Wonder what others think about this issue?  Probably should be a new post so that we don't keep this 'Canadian' drama at the top of the list!

Hi Shayne.
Would love to see some shots of the truck.
Did you get those words regarding the "Bigger Shed" on tape? Make sure you do Wink
My Wife is great. VERY easy to convince. Said no when I told her about it, so the following day, took her to a shop close by the Chev & then wandered down & pointed it out to her. She loved it, the kids went ga-ga & ta-da, "Why don't you get it"? she said!
She knows a good car when she sees it.

The 6cyl is actually a 216ci. Or so the manual states.

Like I said, I had always believed the "J" block was the way to go, but Australias fastest Grey powered track car (A Buchannan 60s kit car) is powered by a "B" block & a Repco head. So is Robbies JWF Italia & these guys swear by them.
Like you, Shayne, I would love to hear more from others with experience in this.

Norm, man, we have a date! I will get the van, get polishing & will be there.

Stick the kettle on & bung some ice in the Eski.

I can Invite Harko too "as long as he leaves his grinder at home"  Shocked
I'll have to ask dad , I'm sure our Ute had Chrome on the sides of the bonnet , do you know if they built utes in "masters" ?    also Mark T's is a '39 exactly the same as the one I had.

Jason & Shayne

Hi Norm,

I have been through that site like I go through this one... My 46 1 1/2 ton is also an Aussie body by Holden. And I finally found a picture of the RAAF painted on a door so I can do mine the same.

Cheers
Jason.

Hi Guys.
Norm, Invite Harko, but make sure he is cuffed & I don't have too many brews. Maybe if I got sloshed & Stinky shows me the picture he did of the Chev again, I might give Harko to go ahead to do something I might regret Shocked Shocked Cool
Not sure about utes in "Masters", but I don't think it wouldn't be too hard to swap the bonnets over. I will do a bit of digging & see what I can find out. There is a fella called "Sloper40" (Not is real name for those who are wondering Wink) who knows a heap about these cars. He has given me some great info & is aalways happy to help. I will give him a call.

Sarge,
I mucked about with Phtobucket the other night & discovered what they meant by;
"If you move these items, all links will be severed".
I thought it sounded a bit ominus, maybe I should have listened! Let me know where the photo is & I can re-link it.

Jason, I would love to see a shot of the truck. I like the RAAF & ARMY cars & trucks. With you & Shayne having Chevs as well, we may need a little section of our own! I have an FB ute that is a factory modded ARMY special. Has a few extra bits & pieces & some body mods. Oneday, I will try & restore it. Bit of a wreck at the moment, but very rare nonetheless.

Martin,
Thanks man. Pretty stoked I must say.
Stinky is OK though, he only mods on the computer. Harko is the one you gotta watch!
