Hi all,

I picked up a finned alloy rocker cover at a swap meet on Sunday, it has the word 'Lanspeed' cast into the top.  Is this an FC accessory or for an earlier or later grey motor?  The other finned alloy cover I have has no writing whatsoever on it.

FC 48 712 M (strange - Melbourne on Subframe, Sydney on body, guess it was replaced)

The car is painted Red with a black insert at the moment and has an EJ grey motor fitted.

Anyhoo hope this adds to somebody's research database

Upon reading the reminders for accident free motoring I have come to the conclusion that I am destined to crash......

A mate bought one a few days ago for $1300.00 bucks - It had all the chrome added in its past life so it looked like a special but the ID plate was definately FB215, the guy just wanted to get rid of it as he was sick of the wifey nagging him about all the old cars.  

The bloke to ask would be Rob J (4hammers).  He is the FB - EK guru.

Hey all,

Forgive the subject here but I am really strapped for answers about an FB standard a mate has just bought.  There is no database to pump the numbers into to find original trim etc so I am hoping someone can spare some answers for the FC's widdle Brother.  The numbers on the body plate etc are:

Body - FB 215 8234B
Trim -  could be 800 - 800 or 500 - 800
Paint - 585 - 0055 (Carlsbad Black)

Inner Guard - FB 13480B
Engine - B93898

As I said not exactly an FC but his little brother, any help appreciated.

Howdy,

I saw this car not three weeks ago in the Holden Museum at Echuca. There is also an FC Special and an FE special, both in good unrestored (or restored some time ago) condition, an absolutely gorgeous FB wagon - NASCOed to the hilt and basically one of every other model as well as some concept cars.  There was an HR paddywagon too - very dodgy aftermarket cage on the back.  Well worth a visit and cheap as chips to get in too.

Having never been to any sort of club run car show before (only the Sydney Motor Show).  What is the deal with spectators? Are there some events that are closed to the general public.  I am keen to go for a day trip to see the awesome cars, take some pickies, get some ideas and to hopefully put names from this BB to faces.  Advice would be good.

Can anybody tell me whether my car should be fitted with Bosch or Lucas Regulator, lights, distributor etc.  

I have a late 59 FC.

Fact is RET without somebody pulling the strings and pushing the buttons nothing works very well, so stop being modest, you and I am sure some helpers have put together an unbelievable amount of info and all available from my little box of silicon.

On the perspex issue,

I was talking to the guys restoring a WW2 Mosquito fighter bomber at the RAAF Museum at Pt Cook Vic.  

They were restoring 60 year old perspex canopies that simply were not available anymore and had not only gone yellow but were crazed and scratched to pieces.  The guy doing the job was using an extremely fine glass paper, lots of water and sh*t loads of elbow grease.  Apparently they have had great success in the past so maybe you could give them a ring for the exact process?

Funny you should mention the sleeping in the back thing, I remember being 7 or 8 and laying on the back seat of mums FC wagon, we were racing dad to work and had an accident.  The back of the front seat acted like a great big trampoline and I clearly remember bouncing between the front and back seats without hurting myself at all.  In fact I remember the bloke we ran into getting a hammer out, bashing the crap out of the front guard to get it off the front tyre so we could continue the race...........great days indeed.

The holes in my roof are all stressed and cracked and the captive nuts were rather 'uncaptive' so I reckon the reason mine was removed and filled was because it had been damaged (??) so I guess it would be a big step drilling the roof.

was there a special tool that came with the sunvisor kit to punch the funny shaped holes in the sheetmetal?  I'm guessing the windscreen would be removed and some sort of multigrip type punch set up used.
