241  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: White Wall Tyres on: August 16, 2003, 04:54:27 AM

Try being colour-blind...  at my first FE-FC Nats (back in '95) I just assumed that Holden painted all of their cars two-tone grey  Smiley  Go GREEN - ugh no, not environmental, just two-tone  Smiley

Good luck with the white walls Rabbit
242  General / FE-FC Holden Nationals / 10th FE-FC Nats (Bulletin 02) on: August 16, 2003, 02:27:53 AM

Welcome FE-FC Fans to the 2nd "10th Nats" bulletin...

Firstly, I'd like to say thanks to everyone who provided feedback and encouragement regarding our monthly updates, it has been very much appreciated.  In turn, we'd love to see a few more club members registering their interest, especially those from Vic and SA...  NSW & Qld have taken an early lead in numbers (see table below).

Jindabyne Snowed Under

By now, the 10th Nats Committee had hoped to provide all of you with confirmed 2005 prices for accommodation at Jindabyne's Station Resort.  Unfortunately, resort management is still well and truly snowed under (pun intended) and will get back to us after the 2003 Ski Season.  Stay tuned for 10th Nats entry forms once 2005 meal prices have been confirmed.

Entrant Goodies Bag

To celebrate the 10th Nats, the Committee is working hard to provide an excellent value goodies bag for entrants.  Entrants will receive a polo shirt featuring the 10th Nats logo, 2 dinner vouchers, and quality collectible items, veering away from the usual assortment of printed material.  We also hope to make several items of clothing available to purchase including caps, mugs etc plus an extra special 10th Nats polar fleece vest to stay warm in the snowies.

Registering Interest

Please encourage your fellow club members to check out the Nationals website at http://www.fefcholden.org.au/nats/nationals.html and register their interest by contacting me by email.  When you hit the hyperlink, you may have to hit "refresh" to update the information.  As of end July, the state by state breakdown is:

TOTAL = 53
19 New South Wales
14 Queensland
10 Australian Capital Territory
6 Victoria
3 South Australia
1 Tasmania

"See you in the Snowies"
Cheers, Tim.
243  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: VENTIES / BREEZIES on: August 15, 2003, 11:58:48 AM

G'day All

Thanks again everyone...

My venties/breezies arrived in the mail last week...  once I've gotten a photo of them on the car, I'll post it so Bear can see where they sit at the top part of the quartervent...  unless someone else has a photo already?

Cheers, Tim.

245  Galleries / Members' FEs and FCs / Re: Yellow Terror on: August 15, 2003, 10:31:56 AM

Looks great Lindsay and welcome to the forum,

I think quite a few of us are looking forward to seeing some more pics when you've finished.  Any chance that it will be ready in time for the Moruya Street Machine show?  I think a couple of our ACT club members are heading down there in a few weeks...

Goodluck with rego!!!

Cheers, Tim.
246  Galleries / Little Cars - Members' Model FEs and FCs / Re: History of Streamlux and it's connection to Fu on: July 18, 2003, 09:54:43 PM

Much appreciated Alex,
I did find the article pretty interesting...  I knew I had the older Tom Thumb box and understand now why I had never seen any original "Streamlux" boxes  Smiley  I can only assume mine is a '77 not a '57 model...

(You always hold out for another FC model out there).
Cheers, Tim.
247  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: CARBY HELP ???? on: July 18, 2003, 11:43:30 AM
Sorry Craig

I'm scratching around for a picture of Brockies LJ but I don't think I have any scanned in yet...  I should remember what size the wheels were coz I only saw it again late last year.  Still looks amazing and goes hard.

It's painful comparing old prices for wheels...  just before I was born, Dad sold the wheels off his E38 Charger to buy Mum her engagement ring.  That's the only benchmark I have now that I'm ring shopping, except those wheels today are worth more than I paid for either of my FC's!!!

It would be cheaper for me now, if back then, Dad had have just sold the spare wheel and not the set  Wink

Oh, and Mark, I do remember that my Dad and I did stuff around with the tuning a fair bit on those triples (probably why I preferred the Holley)  ...  you tend to forget the downsides of things after 10 years has gone by  Smiley
248  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: CARBY HELP ???? on: July 18, 2003, 11:22:56 AM

That's them, thanks Craig...  I'm pretty sure the CD175's are what Dad fitted to his XU1 after we took off the Holley.  We were put onto the triples by our mate that now owns Brock's '72 Bathurst winning LJ.  Cheers, Tim.
249  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: CARBY HELP ???? on: July 18, 2003, 11:15:22 AM

G'day Mark

My Dad and I had a 350 Holley on the 202 in his XU1 and later swapped it for triples...  whilst the Holley had slightly more power, the triples were noticeably more economical.  I think I prefered the faster Holley though.

However, that was in an LJ and not an FC... and at 16 I didn't have the heart to modify my FC's engine bay to fit the 202 with triples when that option came up.

Goodluck, and think about Stinky's EFI option  Smiley

Welcome FE-FC Fans to the 1st "10th Nats" bulletin...

It was great to meet most of you at Easter during the 9th FE-FC Holden Nationals on the Gold Coast.  On behalf of those who travelled from the ACT (and indeed all States), I congratulate the QLD Club for hosting such a well-organised event.  For those receiving this bulletin, thank you for expressing an interest in participating in the next Nationals.

As you know, the FE-HR Holden Owners Club (ACT) will be hosting the 10th FE-FC Holden Nationals in Jindabyne, Easter 2005.  The Organising Committee's plans are well underway with accommodation secured at the Station Resort and a proposed itinerary announced.  Each month, we hope to distribute a "10th Nats" bulletin briefly updating all of you with the latest information, which will also be posted on the "Nationals" section of the FE-FC Car Clubs of Australia website at http://www.fefcholden.org.au/nats/nationals.html

For those of you that have not already done so, I thoroughly recommend that you visit the website and register as a member.  As well as the latest Nats info, you can check out a range of issues of interest to old Holden enthusiasts, including information on national & state events, technical advice, classifieds and links to all FE-FC clubs : http://www.fefcholden.org.au/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=nats

If you know of anyone else in your club interested in receiving these bulletins, please let me know.  I'll regularly provide a progress table detailing numbers of those that have expressed interest in entering the 10th Nats (see state-by-state breakdown below).  In the meantime, stay tuned for the August bulletin and we'll "see you in the Snowies".

Cheers, Tim.

G'day Alex

I must admit that I hadn't heard of Streamlux, but I did a quick search and found this one for sale on ebay (for those interested).

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3536908341&category=223

Also, one older model I do have is a Tom Thumb FE Holden - unmade, mint, still in the box.  Do you know what they are worth these days?

Cheers, Tim.

This event will feature vehicles from most Canberra car clubs participating in a cruise and show on the shores of Lake Ginninderra.

Great news RET

Our club was pleased to hear through Chris Bunt that you guys were coming down...  it should be a fantastic weekend and we're all looking forward to it.

I have checked with the FX-FJ club regarding parking and attending Don's presentation.  The presentation will be open to anyone, the theatre holds about 200 people.  Unfortunately, parking will primarily be set aside for FJ's only...  although all car clubs are welcome to arrive early and park in the public carpark right out front of the Museum.

More details about the Sunday breakfast run will be posted soon...  well worth hanging around for though.

Cheers, Tim.
255  General / Events, Shows etc / FJ Holden - 50th Anniversary Celebrations on: July 15, 2003, 03:51:15 AM

***PLEASE NOTE***

The FJ Holden 50th Anniversary Celebrations are just part of three major events happening in Canberra that weekend.  Also on is the "Holden Trivia Night", and on Sunday, "Marques in the Park" - a yearly breakfast run/show involving the Council of ACT Motor Clubs.

***Saturday 18th October 2003 at the National Museum of Australia - Canberra ***

The 29th of October 2003 represents the 50th Anniversary of the FJ Holden. The FJ is possibly the most recognised model in Australian car history and is synonymous with the Australian way of life.

The FX-FJ Car Club of Canberra invites all FJ Holden owners and all Holden enthusiasts to a Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the FJ Holden.

This once in a lifetime event, supported by The National Museum of Australia, will be held on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra on Saturday 18th October 2003 at The National Museum of Australia, Lawson Crescent, Acton Peninsula, ACTON ACT.

The celebration will centre around a show & shine display of FJ Holden's in and around the magnificent National Museum of Australia. All FJ Holden owners are invited to bring along their FJ Holden and display their car on the day. This is not a competition, there is no entrance fee, it is simply a display celebrating the 50th anniversary of the FJ Holden. The display is open to all FJ Holden owners whether they are a registered member of a Holden club or just someone who loves the FJ.

Combined with the show & shine display at the Museum will be a number of other exciting activities celebrating the birthday of the FJ. These activities will be available to all participants.

The activities include:
- An FJ sedan on permanent display inside the museums main entrance hall.  (Car owned by entertainer John Williamson)
- A Holden memorabilia display (inside the museum). This display will include original brochures, paperwork, car manuals, small parts, Nasco accessories etc. These items will be of great interest to all Holden enthusiasts.
- Well known Holden identity Mr. Don Loffler (author of She's a Beauty & The FJ Holden) will present a 1-hour presentation (in the museums theatrette) incorporating slides of the development of the FJ, early advertising images and other historical documents. This is not to be missed and is open to all enthusiasts (at no cost).
- A photo display of FJ Holdens and FJ related material. This material will be provided by the National Museum, National Archive and National Library.
- Viewing of FJ Holden related video/news reel tapes on the big screen (throughout the day) in the main museum entrance hall.
- Inside the Museum will be the facility/opportunity for people to record memories/recollections (on video or in writing) which they may have of the good old days involving FJ Holden's.
- Plus a number of other activities are also planned for the day, details will be provided closer to the event.

Registration form ***(ATTACHED)***

Any Holden enthusiast wishing to attend the display with their FJ Holden, will need to fill in a registration form and RVSP with car details etc in order to help us plan the event. This registration form should be returned by 31 August 2003 to:
