1  General / General Board / Re: Car transport on: April 15, 2024, 02:32:23 PM
I have used : Door to Door Transport. &  Carways, There are others if you check on Google. I sent a car to WA [from memory, the carrier  was All States Transport], Some Car Carriers have side curtains  which provide extra protection. Local Carriers are often used to pick up from your place & transport to the Depot of the Company you have contracted.  Best to ask about that before deciding.  Good Luck, Kevin.

4  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Dip Stick question. not a self analysis. on: January 25, 2024, 08:29:14 AM
It is on my updated "Bucket List".  Having now watched the videos, I can understand the nostalgia as you trip down "memory Lane". Kevin.

I did not see that coming! Although I did not get to the Museum, I only heard very positive comments from those who had.  I wish them all the best for the Auction. Kevin.

7  Technical Board / General Technical / Dip Stick question. not a self analysis. on: January 22, 2024, 02:48:34 PM
A question for someone much smarter than me.     Can the dip -stick tube in an ecotec v6 commodore [VS]. be removed without damage?  Early ford tubes can be unscrewed because they are threaded. Maybe the VS tubes are an interference fit.... or maybe they are threaded also. Last thing I want to do is break it off @ the block!   Why would you want to remove a dip-stick tube, well , that's a story for another time.
As an aside.. I heard today that Tony & Mark are "pulling the Museum plug" ... Maybe an urban myth?   Kevin.
8  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Repair/Rechrome damaged badge - is it worth the effort on: December 02, 2023, 03:31:20 PM
Hi Craig. There is a process called "electro-forming", where a coating is applied over the pitted item to be electroplated. The coating will take the electroplating, however, having tried this on an headlight surround, I would avoid this process & suggest you locate another entire rear badge. I have seen these badges commonly break above the "D".  Kevin.

Having now found new owners for all my Stock Vehicles, the next step is to relocate some very special items from my Museum.
             * The Cabinets are from a HOLDEN DEALERSHIP dating back to the release of the 48-215. They became fragmented @ Auction & it took some effort to put this collection back together. They are "the real deal", set up as suggested by NASCO, @ that time. They have been on display @ my Museum for 30+ years & are in very good condition.
             * The HOLDEN SIGN is from a Dealership. It is in excellent condition & comes with the frame & back lights. I have it wall mounted , however, it was originally pole mounted @ the street frontage of the Dealership.
IF YOU HAVE THE ROOM IN YOUR "MAN-CAVE", THEN OPPORTUNITIES LIKE THIS ARE FEW & FAR BETWEEN.   Contact via this Forum... [no "head scratchers" or "tyre kickers", please!

Thanks Richard & Alex.  There were some amazing vehicles shown on both videos. Some old favourites, as well as some new ones that really fit the "Street Machine" category.  Thanks again , Kevin.

Nostalgic Radio. 63 Silverdale Road EAGLEMONT, Vic. They have rebuilt radios for me, with AM/FM & ipod connectivity, all in the original cases. Good to deal with. Kevin.
17  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Amp gauge wiring on: January 28, 2023, 02:20:16 PM
Settle down guys! I purchased a heap of these gauges @ a clearance sale when I started my restorations back in the eighties. The ammeter section is connected in series into the loom. there is a cutout in the firewall grommet to accommodate the wire feed. The problem you may encounter, is the extra current supplied, should you fit a red motor, or an alternator, rather than a the intended gennie. Any problems I had over time were associated with the oil feed from the block to the gauge. The brass fittings need to be kept firm. I have fitted these gauges to most of my restos with no issues. Google the correct fitting instructions & enjoy with confidence. Kevin. Wink

20  General / General Board / Re: Merry Christmas on: December 25, 2022, 09:01:58 AM
Thanks Alex. [from the North Coast]. I always intended to ask you about "microwaving cats", because when living in Northmead back in the '60s, I recall a restaurant in Parramatta being reported by the local "Garbo", when he found a bin behind the shop containing a collection of cat skins! naturally, that was prior to the advent of microwave cooking. Maybe they they had a sideline making "Davey Crockett " hats.... they surely wouldn't have served them up as "mock Chicken", would they?....... surely not!  Loved your art work on the card, which I handed on to a friend, who is a Ford Nut, just to stir him up a fraction. Keep firing on all six mate, Cheers Kevin.
