21  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Replacing front wheel bearings on: April 08, 2008, 06:27:57 PM
Good on you Pete, like mikey said there is nothing like the satisfaction you get from doing work on your car yourself, and you know the job is done properly not just thrown together by some mechanic who doesn't really want to be there and is just doing it for the money(before someone takes offence i don't mean all mechanics, but we all know there are lots of shonks out there). Cool

I believe the majority of people that work are just doing it for the money and dont want to be there.

Get yourself a brass drift, wont score the inside of the hub when hitting out the old cones and installing the new ones.

I just completed this job today. I soaked them in wd40 over the last couple of weeks. Used a centre punch on the bolt and knocked them straight out.  If it wasnt for this thread i might be still trying to unscrew them out  Grin

Hi,
The only letters and numbers i can find on it is
"DJR012637"
It lit up when i turned it on, but when i turned the knob to increase the volume,it went out, after a couple more attempts, it stayed on, and everything worked.
Thanks Ken
30  Technical Board / Restoration Help / A couple of questions regarding the Air Chief radio on: March 11, 2008, 07:28:10 PM
Hi
I have just picked up an Air Chief radio for the FC and i have a couple of questions,

There is 3 wires that come out of the corner, 2 for the speaker and the other is a black coloured wire. Now i took the black wire to power and grounded the unit out to a suitable ground. I switched the unit on and it lit up. All good i thought but then after 10 seconds it started smoking. There was no sound coming out. I then thought could it be that the black wire was ground and postive to the body. I tried this and the radio worked.  Now can anybody confirm this, is it meant to be like this ? Doesnt seem right and safe. Could it be a fault internal or is there something inside that you can switch?

My second question is to the location of the radio. I thought it would fit in under the speaker grill, where that chrome piece with the lion emblem is on, even though it has the same shape, it cant fit there. Does it just locate under this piece?
Any pictures would be greatly appreciated.
Also would anyone have a spare knob, the station changer knob.
Here is a pic of the radio.
Thanks for any assistance.

32  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: brake & clutch master cyl. leaks ! ! ! on: February 26, 2008, 07:32:08 PM
I just overhauled both master cylinders in the last 2 weeks, The kits were about $17each, from the local brake shop.
Depending on the condtion of the bores, it takes very little time to put the kit thru them.

Hi Ken,
Nice looking car. What is the red?
Cheers,
Graham

I might get shot for saying, but the red is an early ford colour, more maroon than red,
The white is Holden VT
Cheers Ken

Good news is, that i have the linkages,
Bad new is, the arm is bent and the spline hole is elongated somewhat.
Would anyone have a spare arm  Cry
I will try and massage it back into some shape and clean the hole up.

39  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Electic wiper pic needed and door seal pic on: January 28, 2008, 01:57:14 PM
Thanks very much,
Did you have to remove any of the original cardboard material that is attatched to the inside of the firewall, to make more clearance for the arms?

Could someone please post a picture of the Preslite wiper motor and the associated linkages.

Also could someone please post a picture of a door, with a close up of how the inner and outer door seals are postioned.
