Just doing some creative number crunching for the 08 Nats in Mt Gambier.

Keeping in mind my car is not going, so I have no idea on it's fuel economy, but this is what I've come up with:

Triple Carbed worked Red motor would be sucking through about 15 litres / 100kms on average ( I'm guessing ).

Work that into the 3400kms from My home to Mt Gambier = 510 litres.

That's one way, so now double it for the return trip = 1020 litres, plus 80 litres  for running around and sight seeing, = 1100 litres

Multiply this by the potential average fuel price in 2008 of $2/ litre = $2200 in fuel alone.

Then I hope that nothing goes wrong with the car to add to the running costs.

Yikes !

I'm guessing though, that it will be so worth it !   I love all the stories I hear of those who have been before me....I can't wait !

How many sleeps to go ?

it  WILL  be worth it Mark

Cool Cool Cool

just the drive across the Nullabor in the FC is PRICELESS
102 weeks of overtime might cover the fuel cost

Hey Mark....
Where is this servo that's going to be going to be selling cheap fuel in 2008? ie. $2 per litre..
I'm thinking the way things are - it will be above $2 in the not too distant future. I guess I will just have to give up beer... NOT.
Cheers
Greg

Greg...the way fuel is going, I'm thinking of buying a tow- along tanker and filling it up tomorrow and storing it till 2008.

How long do you reckon the fuel will last for in an air tight tanker Huh  Tongue Tongue Tongue

Still gotta be worth it as Surferboy said !

Can't wait ! Grin

Looks like I will be about the same sort of distance... 3465km's according to the RACQ trip planner.

Premium unleaded gets me about 700km's per 60litres towing a trailer this time equals about 300 litres each way @ $2 a litre

about $600 each way

Although we did 10,000km's in 4 weeks last time with the average price of fuel bein $1.20 worked out at about $1000 for Jindabyne.

Mt Gambier I'm going to allow about $2500 for fuel.

Bring it on!!!!

Jason.
