painting a grey

i know this topic has been covered somewhere?? but i cant seem to find it.

we got our motor back bare (no paint or anything) and gave it a going over with etch primer.

the gearbox was also stripped back bare and had a going over with etch primer.

now we are at the stage where we want to paint up things.

does anybody know if the right grey is available, and in what brand, as ive heard of people using pressure paks and some doing them 2pak. which is better? if 2pak is good and will be ok over the etch primer i can go get something eye matched, but first i thought i would ask here

any help greatly appreciated, like usual

According to the GMH Paint numbers table on the NSW club website (http://www.fefcholden.org.au/techinfo/gmhpaintnumbers.html) the colour is 393-10367, Dulux Aoutocolour Holden Engine Grey.

That's all I know about it.

I've just picked up on this thread - and yes, we have discussed it before.

If you want to go interstate, a mob called Hamilton Holden, 272-288 Brighton Road, Somerton Park  SA  5044  www.hamilton-holden.com.au  took over the automotive paints section from Dulux in SA some time ago.

They mixed me up half a litre of Holden Engine Grey some time ago (can't remember the cost, but it wasn't bad) and it looks good on Jim's engine.

           thanks for your reply.  i might look into that. i was tihnking of printing off a pic of something like fast eddies motor and getting it eye matched in 2pak-will see.

I simply sprayed Hamilton's engine grey onto the bare block, and it's still there without peeling, bubbling or looking bad 12 months later.
