just40, Graham,

That ID plate suggests the car was originally Castle Grey over Etna Maroon, which the Paint numbers bear out as well.  (The boot-lid looks like the original body colour, and that paint number should be 207-7457).

Are you sure about that Body ID number?  Both the engine and chassis numbers suggest the car was manufactured October 1956, but that ID belongs to a much later vehicle.  Perhaps it's FE-225-8838-A ?

Here's a link to a pic of a car that's the mirror reverse (Etna Maroon over Castle Grey) - don't want to hijack your thread with photos of other people's cars...

cheers

anyway back to the wagon, this car was so badly pitted.
when it was washed after 20 years it tore the cloth to bits.but it is coming up ok as a daily driver.
should all be done by the end of this week.

i ordered the rubber kit 3 weeks ago,so hope it will be here this friday.

Your wagon is progressing beautifully, Just40.

Like others, I am astounded at the pace with which you are working.

Top effort.

Just 40, well done on the rebuild....looking real nice.  I'm also at the point of putting my car back together and am getting more impatient the closer I get.

The only advice I can say, is that you have done a beautiful job so far, the car is near on 50 years old, just a couple more months or weeks or days or whatever it takes you won;t matter in the scheme of things as long as you get it right.
There would be nothing worse than rushing now, and stuffing something up, like that beautiful paint work !

When something won;t fit after 10 goes.....give up, clsoe the shed door, and go inside and have a beer !

Come back tomorrow night  !

Well done....it's a credit to you !

thanks for the peep talk Blown_FC,i am happy so far,but like i said it,s just a daily driver, the body was just to pitted.
it looks ok but not so good up close, and it has not cost all that much so far.and at some time it has also been in a hail storm with a lot of small dints showing up when we buffed it.but like i say,i am  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin
