Can anyone tell me why some fe vehicles have one amber tail light
My ute hade an amber tail light when i got it 12 years ago,it had been kept in a shed and was lowmilage.Over the Easter weekend I was getting bits off a couple of utes on a country property and two of these had amber tail lights also.

fe ute,   the answer is that one of the suppliers of taillight lenses to GMH must have had a bad batch of plastic which went off really quickly - without the need of sunlight.
I have seen a brand new lens still in the box that had gone orange.
They have the same part number as red lenses, so must have originally been red.  If they were intentionally orange for some reason - they would have a different part number.
Also there is no mention in any parts book or GMH letter that I am aware of that describes an orange stop/tail lamp.
