Road building

Here's an image from around December 1963 I think, building a road in South Australia. The caption on the back says it's a shot of the road at "Torrens Gorge MR No. 272, Deviation at Kangaroo Dam". Apparently the pic is from the Dept. of Land, SA Govt.

You don't see many without the indicators anymore, but they must have been common as muck in their day.  This ute looks like it has a hard life - check out the stone-chips and the dent in that grille!

Did all FCs come out with blinkers , Or were there FC utes with no blinkers also ?  I ask because I wrecked an FC ute recently that had no blinkers fitted and it never had the wiring for them either, It was also fitted with an FJ bonnet emblem .

my fb ute had no indicators.   i had to fit the mechanism on steering column & sockets in parking lights to take double filliment globes.wiring was in tail lights but not connected to anything.
ive been told indicators were'nt compulsory on new commercial vehicles in some states at this time.

I'm sure this has been discussed before.

All FCs have indicator assemblies, because they're integral to the grille itself, and contain the parking lights anyway.  (FEs have the parkers in the head-light, which is why if the vehicle was not fitted with indicators, it didn't have the assemblies on the front, like the ute in this picture).

Only Special Sedans and Wagons had indicators fitted as standard equipment, and that goes for both FEs and FCs.  I'm not exactly sure when they became standard equipment across the range, but I think it was with the EJ.

Also, if you have a look at the wiring diagram in the workshop manual, you'll see that certain lines are marked 225/229 only.
