XU1 Manifold ( Cleaning ? )

Guys, I have a Holden XU1 Manifold to suit Triple Strombergs, and I want to clean it up, so the alloy looks brand new again....I would love to chrome it, but apparantly you can't chrome alloy....I'm not keen on polishing it, cause you have to keep polishing it, and I'm been burnt before by the huys at JET HOT Coatings....so I'm thinking, If I could dip it into a solution of something, it would bring it back to that new clean silver alloy look ?

Any ideas ?

You can purchase an aluminium/alloy cleaner called "Blitz". I used in extensively to clean parts when I was rebuilding my car - its a pink treacle like substance that you paint on and it cleans off tarnishing and contamination. I purchased it from Supercheap but I'm sure other outlets stock it. You can also purchase a product called Alushine, its like watery toothpaste and cleans alloy beautifully. You just use a toothbrush or other stiff nylon brush to clean the surface and it comes up a treat.

try tasman chemicals alukleen its a high strength alloy and stainless cleaner its industrial gtade and a hell of a lot stronger than most chemicals you buy off the shelf in normal stores

You can chrome alloy, most of the Rice Boys wheels are chromed alloy, I had the timing cover done on my 202.
The alloy needs to be polished first though.

PPC have a clear coat that either sprays of brushes onto polished metal that is heat resistant. I have seen a sample of alloy that has had it brushed on and you would swear it was sprayed.

I guess a combo of one of the cleaners above and the clear coat will keep the manifold in good nick.
