At auction last Sunday , A lot sold that the auctioneer stated that was the original roof top neon sign from the Holden Building on Parramatta Road ..Sydney ..Not sure where that building was , any way he stated it was original 1950's and was 5 meters long ..Sold to a Sydney buyer for $38,250.00 ...

Lots of Holden dealers on Parramatta Road over the years.

GMH had a rather large depot/warehouse near Hampstead Road in Auburn (the type of place with paper-copy parts books under the desk). You could still buy LX Torana steering column cotter pins there in the early 2000s. Closed down more than a decade ago.

I think that sign was from the "Holden House" dealership building on Church St Parramatta (ex-Heartland / Boyded / Fair Deal Carsales).

It was built in 1952 & was demolished last year.

Technicality I know, but the parts warehouse in Hampstead Rd was owned & run by Boyded, not GM-H.

Having just read the previous post, I am wondering what my Dealership Sign might be worth?   Kevin.

The building still stands 9or part of it does), I drove past it on Friday.

I got my sign from a dealer along Parramatta Rd but I think it was closer to the Vauxhall inn end

It was back in late 80's or early 90's I was heading for work & saw this place being either demolished or re purposed

Anyway, I was able to park & walk in (no worksafe back then) laying on the ground a little worse from the years & the removal from the roof was this sign in enamelled letters
GENERAL MOTORS PARTS DIVISION

Asked the only worker around if I could have it? fully expecting a NO but after a little begging i got a YES, couldn't believe it, but then I had to wrestle it onto my wagon

It's been painted white over the enamel but recently re started cleaning them up

That's a cool score Gary.
