difference between red, blue and black

my friend has a 202 in his EH and wanted to know what kind of 202 is in it. is it a red, blue or black, how do u tell?

Hi Twitch.
Red has 202 cast into the side, Blue has 3.3 cast into it & the black doesn't have anything & is cast differently (I am 95% sure of this detail on the black, but will stand corrected).

Rob, there were 3.3 red motors in VB Commodores.
Twitch, if your friends EH has a 202 it MUST be a red.

Its also quite uncommon to paint a red motor blue or black or Vice versa , so colour is normally quite a good indication. But ACE and 4 Hammers are rite on the money.     PS. you may say , what a goose , But would you paint your red motor blue or black or vice versa,...

I know a bloke who painted a red motor grey, (grey motor grey)   whacked in his FC, took it to the motor registry to have it registered.
The inspector was so taken with the resto, that on leaning over to get the engine no. did not realize that he was looking at a wolf in sheeps clothing & it was duly registered with that engine no with little or no mods.

That sounds a good idea, I have a red HP 179 painted blue with a black 12 port head, do you think that might confuse motor rego.

Another trick is to file the numbers off the side of the block...ie. 202 and get plasticine and make the numbers 186, or 173 and paint over it in chevrolet red.  Dont laugh...its been done.

I'm sure ive seen a black motor - fuel injected 202 in an EH... am i wrong?

Some years ago, I recall seeing what I think was an HR wagon with a fuelinjected black motor in Street Machine. It was, I think, a wagon, but I remember clearly that he had the crossover pipes and stuff painted in hot pink.
